After the last Ice Age 20,000 years ago the earth warmed and within a hundred years or so (15,000 years ago) the sea rose over a hundred feet. Global flooding forced people away from the sea shore and it divided humanity with oceans. It was traumatic. Global warming takes advantage of a kind of historical memory of ancient tragedy.
