Ah yes, that old made up story used by a number of flat Earth believers :-) So before going any further, can you say which version of a flat Earth you believe please? A brief summary in your own words would suffice. I ask because there are many versions to choose from, i.e. firmament dome or no firmament dome? Edge of a flat Earth (finite plane) or no edge (infinite plane)? More land and seas beyond the ice wall? Pillars or no pillars? Gravity or no gravity? Globe sun and moon or flat sun and moon? Rahu and Ketu, or just the moon during eclipses? etc. Once you say which flat Earth you mean, then your comments here will be in context of your flat Earth.

Oh wait, I see your account was conveniently only created yesterday :-)
6
The problem with your claim is that flat Earth has nothing to do with the Bible.
6
@MGTOWwithGOD - Again, nice act in pretending you believe in the Bible 👏👏👏
6
So if your friend said he's so hungry he could eat a horse, then you would check your phone to see if they sell horse meat in your area? Your answer must be yes given your comment that shows you don't understand what an analogy or a metaphor is :-) If you did understand that your friend didn't literally mean a horse, why are you unable to understand that Neil didn't literally mean a pear?

"Fly to the South Pole, where all 360 lines of longitude meet and in a few steps you can walk around the world. History comes alive as you stand at 90° South, the ultimate goal of polar explorers Amundsen and Scott. Imagine how it felt to head out across the frozen continent and into the unknown over 100 years ago. Feel the spirit of determination and discovery that has inspired a century of Antarctic exploration and scientific research. Now can you be one of the selected few that have set foot on the Geographic South Pole."
5
You said "They taught flat earth in school up until the 60s. Not debatable, an actual fact." No, that's a lie, and therefore if you were so easily convinced by a lie that you could have debunked yourself, then of course you would think the Earth is flat :-) And before you argue, present the name of ONE school book that says the Earth is flat please, together with your source.

@williamborregard6384 - So can you demonstrate your 'knowledge' by stating the version of a flat Earth you believe please? A brief summary in your own words would suffice. I ask because there are many versions to choose from, i.e. firmament dome or no firmament dome? Edge of a flat Earth (finite plane) or no edge (infinite plane)? More land and seas beyond the ice wall? Pillars or no pillars? Gravity or no gravity? Globe sun and moon or flat sun and moon? Rahu and Ketu, or just the moon during eclipses? etc. Once you say which flat Earth you mean, then your comments here will be in context of your flat Earth.

@ROBERTPUNU - You said "...so, it would rise to eye level no matter the elevation you're in" I provided a video and photograph SHOWING the horizon drop, with two experiments that EVERYONE can do themselves (especially the half filled bottle of water), hence proving the horizon drops with altitude. So case closed until you can present a video of a half filled bottle of water in an airplane showing the horizon outside to be at the same level as the water. I've put that challenge to flat Earth believers for years and I'm still waiting for just ONE example. So go ahead, present it here. I'm waiting :-)

It's funny when a lemming calls people sheep just before he jumps off the cliff :-)
5
People have known the Earth is a globe for around 2500 years :-)

Getting back to the topic... do you believe the Earth is flat? :-|

More land and seas beyond the ice wall? Pillars or no pillars? Gravity or no gravity? Globe sun and moon or flat sun and moon? Rahu and Ketu, or just the moon during solar eclipses? etc. Or do you believe it comes from the Bible? If so, then what's your understanding of a Biblical flat Earth? Once you say which flat Earth you mean, then your comments here will be in context of your flat Earth.
4
There are no verses in the Bible that explicitly says the Earth is flat. You only think there are because you listened to those who used the Bible to fool you, and you fell for it :-| And none of the flat Earth videos have been taken off, they are ALL still there, you just have to work harder and smarter to find them (sorry but if you're not smart enough to find them then perhaps that's why you believe the Earth is flat? ;-)).
4
@ROBERTPUNU - You said "no, we never even went to the moon. the moon landings were filmed in a studio." It is impossible to fake the Apollo footage in a studio here on Earth today, much less during the 60s/70s. You said "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon" All debunked, where YOU could debunk some of his claims if you actually tried.

Addendum A Funny Thing Happened... (By GreaterSapien - MIRROR)
4
Belief in a god or gods, or the lack of a belief in a god or gods, has nothing to do with intelligence my friend :-|
4
No that's just you falling for the claims of flat Earth theorists, where you never question their claims :-|
4
So do you agree with MGTOWwithGOD that a flat Earth is described in the Bible and therefore that's the 'model' for a flat Earth? Where he also believes it is circular and yet with 4 corners? :-| I doubt it because you said "Earth is either flat or orders of magnitude larger than we are told." That also contradicts Eric Dubay. So what about a firmament dome and a flat Earth ending at a wall of ice. Do you believe that too? :-|
4
The problem with your argument is that if you take a few moments to look at the subscriptions of flat Earth believers, they are VERY much to the right :-|
4
From the vid you refer to; Neil; "...But not only that, it's slightly wider below the equator than above the equator" Interviewer; "A little chubbier" Neil; "A little chubbier, chubbier's a good word, it's like pear shaped. So ..." Some audience laughter Neil; "... it turns out, the pear shapedness is bigger than the height of Mount Everest above sea level ..." Edited out discussion about the smoothness of Earth's surface compared to its size Neil; "...but cosmically speaking, we're practically a perfect sphere." So despite the 'pear shape' analogy Neil clearly says the Earth is "practically a perfect sphere". Therefore it's dishonest to claim he said the Earth literally looks pear shape, and yet so many flat Earth believers do. Why is that?
4
Not quite, it all began when ignorant people started to think they're smarter than everyone else and therefore believed they are entitled to their own realities :-|
4
The logo you speak of is a silhouette of the Azimuthal Equidistant projection map, or AE map, known to many flat Earth believers as the Gleason map, where Alex Gleason himself said in his own patent that the map is just a projection from a GLOBE of the Earth with two poles! Flat Earth theorists took the existing azimuthal equidistant map and claimed it's a flat map of the Earth, because that's the only 2D projection map that stretches Antarctica around the outside to form their claimed 'wall of ice'. But hey, why let mere facts get in the way of a belief, right? :-)
4
People have known the Earth is a globe for around 2500 years, for example the ancient Greeks and Romans, and all Christian churches throughout history have only ever said the Earth is a globe, no Christian church has ever said the Earth is flat. The only difference is all those I listed above believed in a stationary globe Earth at the center of the everything for most of their history. In other words, our knowledge that the Earth is a globe did not come from gvts my friend.
4
You do know that you and any flat Earth believer who can afford it can book onto a trip to the South Pole. Right? :-)
4
Find me a photo of the edge of your flat Earth with the wall of ice up against the claimed firmament dome. In other words, don't ask for the kind of evidence that you can't provide yourself :-|
4
The title is "Why People Think the World is Flat", not "Why People Are Wrong To Think the World is Flat"

@williamborregard6384 - You said "I only know what I can personally verify" Ok, thanks, but then you cannot claim an enclosed system since you haven't personally verified it, that can only be speculation for you based upon your comment.
4
@williamborregard6384 - You said "Gas pressure cannot exist without a physical container" Containment can be achieved by solid matter or by a force, where in terms of Earth's atmosphere gravity is the force producing the containment (in fusion reactors, magnetic fields produces the containment of the hot plasma).
4
@williamborregard6384 - Did you know that our atmosphere gets thinner with altitude? Of course you did! At 10 miles up there is 10 TIMES less air compared to sea level. That's a low vacuum, where your saliva will boil at that altitude, and at 12 miles up your blood will start to boil! You can easily recreate those same conditions with a cheap vacuum chamber! At 20 miles up there is 100 times less air compared to sea level, and at 30 miles up there is 1000 times less air, that's a medium vacuum. At 50 miles up there is 1 million times less air, that's a high vacuum. Low Earth orbit is an ultra high vacuum and so on. Hence the increasing vacuum conditions with altitude has been directly measured by instruments on balloons and on aircraft sent up to high altitudes, hence up to altitudes of whatever flat Earth theorists are willing to accept. In other words, there's a proven pressure gradient which results in ever increasing vacuum conditions with altitude, with no barrier in between and no solid container required.

@MGTOWwithGOD - Let me quote your exact words; "Ron Wyatt’s story" And " Ron Wyatt did a lot of work. All documented!" AND "you know who he is. Just like Jesus from Nazareth" So here's three quotes from your hero's book; "God rests during the seventh rotation of the planet" "Beneath these twin hemispherical ice-caps" "its light reflected off the planets and their moons, thus our sun, moon and stars became visible for the first time" Case closed :-)
4
@MGTOWwithGOD - So I'll ask you again. Explain why myself or anyone else should take Ron Wyatt seriously please :-)
4
So nothing about the shape of the Earth then. Last time I looked it was called "Flat Earth Theory", not "Stationary Earth Theory" :-)
4
So can you say which version of a flat Earth you believe please? A brief summary in your own words would suffice. I ask because there are many versions to choose from, i.e. firmament dome or no firmament dome? Edge of a flat Earth (finite plane) or no edge (infinite plane)? @iwandobrev2768 - Firmament means sky or heavens. It is flat Earth believers who claim it means a solid dome. Throughout history Christian churches who produced all the Bibles you've read have only ever said the Earth is a globe, although they believed in a stationary globe for much of that history. No Christian church in history has ever said the Earth is flat, but if you disagree then name the Christian church that said the Earth is flat please.
4
@iwandobrev2768 - So your last reply is really you saying all Christian churches and countless Christians today and in the past are all wrong about the Bible, but you and a few others somehow know better. There's a word for that kind of belief, but YT would shadow ban or delete my reply if I use that word here :-D
4
@iwandobrev2768 - So lets keep this simple... I previously said to you and I quote "No Christian church in history has ever said the Earth is flat, but if you disagree then name the Christian church that said the Earth is flat please." So go ahead, name a church. Surely you can find ONE establish Christian church that preached a flat Earth if what you claim is true? Just one please. If you can manage that, then myself and perhaps others can take you more seriously :-)
4
Perhaps that's why the title is "Why People Think the World is Flat"? Just a thought ;-)
4
Actually it doesn't. But why did you feel the need to spam this video with several new comments?
4
No experiment shows the Earth is flat.
4
Yes 1 month old account. But can you say which version of a flat Earth you believe please? A brief summary in your own words would suffice. I ask because there are many versions to choose from, i.e. firmament dome or no firmament dome? Edge of a flat Earth (finite plane) or no edge (infinite plane)? You said "How does a railgun work on a globe? It fires an unguided projectile with a range of 160 miles" And your problem with that is what exactly? I do find it interesting that whenever targets are mentioned with regards to railguns flat Earth believers automatically assume those targets MUST be surface based. For some reason you don't think targets can be aircraft or missiles or helicopters, for example. Why is that? :-)
4
So you're not a Christian then? :-|
4
@ROBERTPUNU - What makes that flat Earth horizon claim so ridiculous is that the horizon would also drop on a flat Earth! The difference is the horizon on a flat Earth (whether assumed to be the edge of the Earth or the maximum distance visible to us across the surface of the Earth) would appear to drop SLOWER than the horizon on a globe Earth as the altitude increases. The belief that the horizon magically rises up to eye level no matter how high we go is due to a lack of understanding of geometry and mathematics :-|
4
Says the 2 week old account.
4
The title is "Why People Think the World is Flat" and hence that's the main focus.
4
@CarsSlavik-mt2rt - Wrong my friend :-) By your logic, if someone inside a passenger plane cruising at 550 mph jumps up, then that person would hit the back of the airplane at 550 mph :-) When inside a car travelling at 60 mph with the windows closed, try throwing a coin up and then catching it in the same hand. Did the coin fly off at 60 mph? No? So where's the problem? Earth's atmosphere moves WITH the rotation of the Earth and is confined by gravity. The air inside an airplane moves WITH the airplane and is confined by the fuselage. The air inside a car moves with the car and is confined by the chassis (when the windows are closed). And so on. Airplanes only fly because they use Earth's atmosphere to create lift by flying through it at speed, the same atmosphere that moves with the Earth. Any questions? :-)

Says the person who recommended Ron Wyatt, where you said and I quote "you know who he is. Just like Jesus from Nazareth, john spoke about him this is the one, i was talking about when i said he comes after me" Where in that thread I've presented you with multiple quotes from Ron Wyatt's book where he says the Earth is a revolving globe planet among other planets in our solar system with their own moon's too. Therefore the very same person that YOU put up on a pedestal says your flat Earth beliefs are all nonsense. You couldn't make it up :-D
4
@John-l1f4m - Actually Polaris is about 0.75 degrees off from true north, and so if you pointed a camera at Polaris and zoomed in and created a time lapse video for several hours, then you will notice that Polaris creates an arc for a circle about the width of 3 full moons.
4
So getting back to the actual topic... you accept the fact that the Earth is a globe? :-)
