  1. I mentioned this in the shorts clip, but I'll repeat it here. Other than all the things Nish just mentioned as well as the points made in the comments, it's also childish? There's a "You can't tell me what to do, we're comedians and nothing is off limits! You're not my dad/mum!" energy coming from these people and it's disheartening. There's also, a 'tHeSe aRe jUsT JoKeS' attitude, but it's been my experience that these are usually spouted by people as an excuse just to be dicks.

  4. I can't get enough of Coco throwing out an idea or something she did or experienced and Nish coming back and taking a jab at Coco and Coco giggling away. The whole show could just be this, but that said, I appreciate the work you guys do. It is a bit alarming to see that British conservatives and American conservatives are taking similar tactics to really put the screw to the citizens such as the tactic of playing bookkeeping games with the NHS so as to sabotage it while insisting they aren't effectively underfunding the organization. In a similar vein to Republicans who tried to sabotage the US Postal Service in 2006 in a disgusting attempt to drive it to insolvency and bankrupt it so they could privatize it (guess that already happened with the trains in the UK from the sound of it). They both seem to be in the habit of sabotaging and breaking things in their respective countries in bad faith as if that "proves" that whatever government institution "doesn't work".

  9. It's fascinating to compare British politics with American politics. What Nish said about how people couldn't care less about the clown show going on at Downing Street when so many British folks are more concerned with paying for heating bills, food, etc, and the US where the economy is, by all metrics (though maybe not felt quite as keenly by the average American) on the upswing in terms of inflation, wages, etc, but the heavy influence of right wing media has taken a hold of the narrative for so many people that 60-70m Americans would still vote for a man who tried to blackmail Zelenskyy for political dirt (illegal), was accused of 10 cases of obstruction of justice by special investigator and former FBI agent Mueller in an official government report, nearly 30 women have accused him of sexual misconduct/assault, consistently sides with right wing, fascist strongmen like Putin, Erdogan, Kim, etc, tried to illicitly negotiate the lifting of Russian sanctions even before he was elected, left Peshmerga allies high and dry and for dead, taken millions from foreign governments while in office along with his family who also received, billions in some cases, stole crates and crates of top secret, nuclear documents - some of which are now missing - and, oh yeah, incited an insurrection against the US, its citizens, the government and attempted to overturn the election across multiple states like Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, etc... But, if you have a powerful, loud enough speaker, you can still convince a massive number of people regardless of if the economy or things are looking so much better than before (at least in the case of the US) and Clive is absolutely spot on when he says that we are facing fascists and fascism already. I would be curious to see just exactly what Germans thought and saw in Germany in the early 1930s... Feels like we never see it coming until the boot is on our necks, but a large portion of people are sounding the alarm, but it's so very disheartening to see so many not express any sense of urgency or alarm at what's happening beneath our very noses. I hope that the UK can correct its course b/c a lot of what you're experiencing feels like what conservative politicians have done in the US as well. Erode support and finances for the post office (the NHS in the case of the UK) and, in general, gut various institutions that would otherwise be helpful to all Americans then point to it as an example of how government can't work or is dysfunctional or otherwise privatize government functions that will, in turn, be motivated solely by profit margins. The time to act is now, not when the boot is on all of our necks.

Sadly, that's what's facing many American women now that our Supreme Court has decided that a universal right should be doled out on a state by state basis. Aisling is right, a pregnant woman who says, "I want an abortion", regardless of what her reasons are, is the end of any discussion.

I can sympathize with Aisling's reasoning that an anti-abortion person is convinced they are saving a life and, while I don't know what the details and particular specifics are in the UK or Ireland, etc, I find it disingenuous in the US b/c these same people won't fund pre or post-natal care or child and mother's nutrition or bolster early education for children or provide for any other relief for the mother or child. I call that segment of the American populace "pro-birth", not pro-life b/c nothing else they do or advocate helps the child or mother.

Taking a step back from the immediate issues that lgbtq+ people face, I find it always annoying when conservatives use the gender identity cudgel to say that we're not willing to face 'scientific reality' when they are confronted with something like climate change to try and muddy the waters. First of all, there's tons of scientific evidence on the side of lgbtq+, but for the sake of argument, let's say they are right. It still doesn't change the issues we are facing with the climate. What does Sarah coming out as gay or Jim coming out as transgender... have to do with warming temperatures or rising sea levels? Let's say that those on the side of lgbtq+ are, indeed, wrong. If I choose to call Jim 'her/she' b/c she prefers that or if Sarah insists I call him 'his/him', how does that hurt anything whatsoever? The flip side of that coin is, if conservatives who are in denial of climate change get their way, we face existential crises that will have us facing ever increasingly erratic weather, droughts, flooding, all things that will cost us in human lives and resources we wouldn't otherwise need to be spent. Being 'wrong' on the one side hurts no one, being wrong on the other side results in us having a bleak future.

I can't speak for you Nish, but as person of Asian descent, I often hoard the love of all my single friends b/c of the lack of parental affection I was shown as a child (which may also give away which region of Asia we are talking about, at least according to stereotypes)... your shows are not only fun and informative, but strangely therapeutic. Somehow, the corporate world and politics are where you go if you're an absolute bell end (not all) b/c you know you can completely cock up something... and get promoted or rewarded for it. But, if one of us were to do something similar, we'd likely be looked at with utter disdain and fired, not necessarily in that order. It's bizarre an fascinating.

Instead of the myriad examples of women (solo or a couple) that are unprepared for a child for a myriad of reasons or women who are victims of SA, often by someone they know like a friend or a relative, or women whose pregnancies will not lead to a viable infant or whose lives are actually threatened by the pregnancy, let's come up with a complete hypothetical example that, in your mind, somehow supersede a ton of real, actual, suffering women.

B/c that's what happened with Savita Halappanavar who was experiencing a miscarriage. She died of sepsis while experiencing a miscarriage in which the fetus wasn't going to survive, but you're right. Better to kill both than just one! See? I can use ridiculous strawman arguments as well except, in my case, it was an actual thing that happens to women and not the only type of complication that can happen such as preeclampsia. So, while you're getting your jollies off on how women should die for an unviable fetus in a hypothetical, homicidal person who wants to kill their own baby, actual women have died, are dying and will die b/c of people like you who think that some hypothetical murder-y woman just wants to kill her baby and exactly why Aisling's point is the most important. These women shouldn't have to put up with monsters like you and they shouldn't have to rationalize a single, goddamn thing you think they should do with their bodies.
