@AidanHomewood .. Bernie ran on a legislative agenda which is why no one should have supported him for president. Presidents don't pass legislation. Members of congress do.
2
@RigelOrionBeta .. FALSE. Presidents over the last 25 years moved from influencing legislation to writing legislation and whipping members of congress. That is why govt is failing now. Congress doesn't do their Constitutionally assigned job of writing legislation. They allow lobbyists and the president to write legislation.

@wvu05 ... as I said .. Presidents over the last 25 years moved from influencing legislation to writing legislation and whipping members of congress. That is why govt is failing now. Congress doesn't do their Constitutionally assigned job of writing legislation. They allow lobbyists and the president to write legislation. However Presidential candidates that offer only legislative solutions are ZERO executive solutions should never be president. Bernie did that as a candidate. All legislative zero executive solutions.

@wvu05 .. Executive solutions are actions only the president can take on foreign and domestic policy. Too many idiots want to turn the president into a king. There is a reason that governors are elected president more than legislators in US history. They know the actions of the executive branch of government a lot better than someone that was just a legislator. People that came from the legislature always think that legislation is the only way a president can get things done. That requires the time and will of people in congress to get something done. Many executive decisions require immediate action. Congress would debate a response for months to 100 ICBMs headed at the United States. All presidents did not influence or whip legislation. In fact most did not.

@wvu05 .. Nope. You're not very bright. Here is a simple civics lesson that you could have Googled Keeping the Balance: What a President Can Do and Cannot Do A PRESIDENT CAN . . . make treaties with the approval of the Senate. veto bills and sign bills. represent our nation in talks with foreign countries. enforce the laws that Congress passes. act as Commander-in-Chief during a war. call out troops to protect our nation against an attack. make suggestions about things that should be new laws. lead his political party. entertain foreign guests. recognize foreign countries. grant pardons. nominate Cabinet members and Supreme Court Justices and other high officials. appoint ambassadors. talk directly to the people about problems. represent the best interest of all the people A PRESIDENT CANNOT . . . make laws. declare war. decide how federal money will be spent. interpret laws. choose Cabinet members or Supreme Court Justices without Senate approval.

@wvu05 .. WRONG AGAIN LIGHTWEIGHT. Bernie wanted to be the legislator in chief. He never talked about that things the president is actually allowed to do.
2
@wvu05 .. Congress passes trade agreements. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@wvu05 .. 1) You're stretching .. Bernie focused on the congress passing\repealing trade agreements. Worse is Bernie was wrong on NAFTA and other trade agreements. 2) Nice of you to avoid the 14 other things a president can do. Bernie avoided talking about them so why not you too. Your excuse making for Bernie the Legislator is WEAK.
2
@wvu05 .. 1) Bernie never talked about foreign policy which is the biggest job of the president. 2) Your inexperience is laughable. Trade Agreements are NOT trade agreements. They're security agreements. 3) Worse is that you think trade agreements are all the president does. It's like 1% of what the president does. That is why no one took Bernie seriously as a presidential candidate. 99% of the things Bernie said he wanted to do was passing legislation as president. Pass legislation to regulate Wall St and Banks. Pass legislation on Climate Change. Etc. Presidents don't pass laws. Bernie ran a Senatorial campaign and that is where voters decided he should stay.
