In my view what it really would have looked like was the halftracks on firsthand late in the war would have P47s strafing the treeline followed by 105mm Howitzers firing Willy Pete into it indirectly. The crews of the AT gun would likely have departed by the time the tanks arrived. That would have been considerable time to get the orders from the infantry battalion commander, mount up, and move to the firing. No, the quick response would be the Javon and artillery buying them out.
