@rsync9490 As usual MEE is censoring my reply. Nothing controversial. Simply saying you cannot allow for an earlier historical wrong by pointing to a later. That is now how history works. Islam converted by violent conquest, which later led to a reconversion by violent conquest. THats history baby.....

@kakarote100 Bubba, you seem to forget that Islam started invading Europe in 711AD. The first crusade started in 1096AD. Thats what we call a reaction....

@Jessewb786 The religious leaders told us they were. THey were quite open about it. Funny, they REALLY pushed it on the black guys who paid attention. THe Black women in our unit were absolutely not having it. I don think the clerics were ready to the level of opposition the US black women put in their way. Telling them they couldn't drive, were limited to second class citizens, etc did not FLY at all.

@finnjacobsen684 frankly I see no forward movement in Islamic societies today. They still revel in simple tribalism, and insist education focus on religious aspects of those societies. I was in the middle east for many years and was amazed that the Dear Abby equivalent in their newspapers discussed things like the proper minimal ablutions prior to attending mosque. Kidnapping, graft, payoffs etc...

@rsync9490 Sure, but it isnt as clean as you portray it. The nature of the beast is that you cant alleviate a historical wrong by forgiving a later wrong. Islam forced conversion on many, and later there was a reconversion of some. It is the nature of history.

@rsync9490 I am going to assume you have not spent time in the Islamic world like I did in my 24 years in uniform. You are probably a college kid or something. I recommend you look up the Term Apostasy in the Islamic world. You will find it is punishable to this day by death in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Somalia, and a whole host of smaller countries. In others converting someone is illegal and punjshable.

@Jessewb786 Okay, the Moors invaded because their faith called on them to spread by conquest. Convert them to a faith, then put those to the sword who disagree. The same reason conquests occurred in North Africa, Sicily, Spain, Southern France, the Balkan, turkey, Southern Russia, eastern Africa, and all the way over to the Sulu Archipelago.

@Jessewb786 Okay so when can the Catholic Church build a Cathedral downtown Mecca? Can we build a Synagogue on the grounds as a property sharing accomodation. I know a batch of good Mormon families out here in Cochise County and I will call them up and have them send their kids to Medina as Missionaries since Jessewb says Islam is peaceful. I know a fantastic Buddhist temple in Seoul which can ship a 4 ton bell and a dozen monks to Riyadh . I always enjoyed hearing theirs rung when I was there.

@Anatolia07 What? Are you one of those folks who secretly goes out and destroys the Jewish Archaeology sites and claims no one was ever there? When I was assigned to Israel 20+ years ago that was a big thing. The IDF always was "Persuading" us to go check out the sites. We were bored, but ten years later it became obvious why they were persuading US DOD personnel that the Jews existed in the Holy Land all the way back. To this day the "Pallys" can be found using Sledgehammers on old gravesites, etc. If you can destroy it, you can destroy the past.

@tengkualiff Actually in September 2001 I saw a low key mosque just outside the Vatican. I remember it because I was stuck in Rome due to 9/11 and it seemed incongruous. I also remember seeing the flurry of Mosques that were erected in the US shortly after 9/11. (As well as Confucius Institutes, but that is another thing.) We allow in. You dont. Who is more open?

@Jessewb786 As Usual I am being censored for saying I was in Mecca as part of a Military meeting in the 90s. The Sauds were quite careful to remind me I could not go see the Kabbah and had to stay at the conference area. While in Khobar Towers the Saudi Culture center clerics who were seeking to convert us made it Plain we were not supposed to hold Mass or protestant church services anywhere visible in Khobar, and definitely not outside the compound. I was lucky to depart days before the truck bombing. I was also lucky to miss out on the Sbarro attack by leaving. I guess I was lucky. Others were not. I guess one could feel unwelcome.

@kakarote100 Dude, it was 1991 in the Khobar Towers. It was located in the Fest Tent that also contained the PX where we bought Gatorade and Oreos. We had to go beyond them to get the pogey bait. Names? Do you Think I remember the names of the clerics they put in that tent? They spoke English fairly well. Pretty educated. They started with answering questions about Islam, but then invited you to join them if you let them get there . No takers that I could tell because Al Khobar, Ad Dammam, Dharran, and Hafir Al Baton were all the evidence we needed as to what we wanted. And the US female troops needed only to look at the UBMOs to know that wasn't what they wanted. Funny thing is ten years later we brought Saudi Officers to the states and trained them. We did not do the same to them. Here you can believe in God, Allah, or the Great Kazoo and none of us care.

Can't win them all.☹ Regarding tour notion of Darwah. Doesnt really work that way does it? South Sudan? East Timor? Jolo? Mindinao? Those are just the ones from the past ten years. Conversion or the sword. That is what we see. The catholics in the past ten years send elderly priests and nums to run missions. The Mormons send 18 year old boys in slacks. Islam sends Abu Musa and his friends....

@Jessewb786 a couple of questions. 1.) What genome is being eradicated? 2.) If Israel has 2.3 Million muslim Arabic citizens, how can the eradicated a supposed Arabic genome supposedly native to the area. Are the murdering them as well? 3. Regarding how we see ourselves, it does not matter what you think of us, you will call Uncle Sam when you get in trouble. 4.) And the fact that the religion in question causes havoc wherever it resides, is also not in question.

Reference peace in the middle east, during WWI. You forget the Ottoman Empire was heavily invved and got slammed by of all people the Saudis. Also open warfare in Syria, Iraq, Gaza, ETC. Hell I have done staff rides all across the middle east studying WWI. (Beersheba was my favorite- dint have to worry about the bomb vests guys there.)

@Anatolia07 Ahhhh. Being censored again for asking if you were one of the guys I encountered in the 1990s who destroyed Jewish archeological sites? I was assigned there for the DoD and the IDF took us to lots of archeological sites in our off time. We were bored at the time, but understand it now.
