  1. The majority of people's complete ignorance about narcissism plays right into the hands of narcissists controlling people, families and even businesses. I have lived through multiple instances of the majority of a family or business unwittingly enabling and supporting a narc's toxic behavior, giving them free reign and multiple do-overs. They apply "reasonable person" standards to a person who is anything but reasonable. "He's just misunderstood" "He means well" "He gets a bit overzealous sometimes" "Yeah, he's tough but he gets the job done" "You just have a personality clash with him" In reality, he doesn't get the job done, he lies outright, covers up, does poor work, circumvents process and even law. Family and management don't see it until it is too late and the family or business is destroyed. Even after the destruction there are still followers supporting the narc who claim nothing was his fault. I've given up trying to educate people on this and I am covered with wounds from fighting these people. Whenever I see the first sign of one, I leave.
