  1. Military was the best thing ever for me. I had a father who devoted his life to drinking and womanizing. He made I clear I was an accident that inconvenienced his life and to stay the hell out of his way. I left home at 17 to join the Army, trained 2000 miles away from home without returning to visit, then deployed overseas. I never found a father figure or role model, but I gained a lot of good, solid brothers for many years. Still have some of them now in my 60s and we speak several times a week.
