I live in Bohol. Prices down in the resort area are 2-3 times what they cost in the province ... but still less than half of what I would have paid in the US. The only exceptions are electricity and fuel, which are comparable to the US. Renting a nice 3BR/2 bath house in a gated community with a pool 5 min from the beach for $725/mo. Starlink internet is 1/3 of what I paid in the US, but startup equipment is about the same. Monthly unlimited phone less than half of the US. I sold my 2017 Ford F250 in the US and it covered the price of a new Nissan Navara here.

Yes, there are a lot of niche spots, even near the resort areas. Locals have to eat too

@tyranidswarmlord9722 Yeah, Def cheaper places... but here is where I ended up, so I make the best of it. Big cities are still more expensive. The opposite end of the island is still very affordable and you can catch a 45 min ferry to Cebu City if you want a change.

@la4828 Yes, it's doable very comfortably as long as you don't want to live the resort lifestyle. Do some research to make sure some of the different stuff here won't drive you nuts ... trash, crowing roosters, brown outs, etc.
