My mother was a covert narcissist. She worked hard to wreck any joy that I was able to find in my life. Relationships, career, achievements ... all wrecked and torn down. I stupidly tried even harder to win her love and approval, until I finally learned what she truly was. I was so angry at that point, having been deceived, manipulated and played my entire life ... that I cut her out of my life completely and never looked back. She died a few years after that. I didn't find out until about a year after the fact. All I felt was relief. I still feel no sorrow at her passing. The only regret I feel is that I didn't cut her out of my life sooner.
