I worked for a company for 12 years. I got sick from work related issues and took the short term disability benefit offered and guaranteed by the company. Two weeks into my 3 months of disability, the company stopped my paycheck citing an obscure legal loophole. However, they would not let me return to work because of my disability ... that they would not approve. So I sat out 3 months and decided not to work for them anymore. I sent my resignation by email to my manager, his director and our HR representative. None of the three even acknowledged it. I sent a farewell email to almost 100 people within the company, not saying anything negative or citing my reason for leaving. Not one single member of the leadership responded. However, almost all of my peers responded with shock and disbelief, wishing me well. They told me my boss had announced my departure within minutes of me sending the resignation email. Here is the real kicker. This is a "Christian" company that mentions serving God in their purpose and values, had a chaplain's department and prays before meetings. They loudly champion family, community, love, and servant's heart while stabbing people in the back. Bunch of hypocrites. Not even a "wish you well." Do not be loyal to any company.
