  2. The welfare state needs to become more means tested. The state pension should move to means tested. I think we need to encourage more people to put more of the salary into pensions/SIPPs, and raise the ISA allowance for those who are more experienced at building wealth.

  3. This is not correct. We can afford both, but some restructuring of the welfare state is need. The super rich pay tax in various forms but they don't take from the state in the form of welfare.

  4. The future of the welfare state is that it will be provided to those who need it. That's the key difference with the almost universal nature of it today. The welfare state no longer needs to be universal. It should only exist to support those who need it. We need to replace the universal elements with more means testing so people who don't need certain benefits don't get them.
