It doesn't need to a country like China or India pays companies to move to their country in billions of dollars so to do the opposite like Seattle and tax companies is just blind ideology clouding proper business sense. Look, an Amazon tech worker is making over $100k a year so they are buying cars, houses, clothes, food, all of which makes the city tax income, even if a company pays no direct taxes their employers buying things sure as hell does and best of all it increase desirability to live in a city thus raising property values which is the absolute larger money maker possible.

This video is missing the critical point, companies with high paying jobs bring with them an army of money makers for a city, restaurants, bars, day care, school attendance, increase in property values, many services like gardening companies, house cleaning, vehicle sales, grocery stores, it is endless benefit of attracting high paying jobs so of course it is a terrible idea to scare away employers and taxing them is not the way to make money for the city. You want to attacker employers who bring with them an eco system of tax payers.
