Native people did not live on bartering they lived on Tribal order and economy. A person had to work for the Tribe such as gathering food, skins, resources, building homes, making tools, defending the Tribe and honor. Many people who did fail to do well would end up stuck at a lower ranking in the tribe or in many cases death from one way or another. People in the Tribe who fail the Tribe were not treated nicely in most cases at best some were kicked out to survive on their own in the wild.
