  1. Russia's action of invading Ukraine is basically calling China's bluff that invading Taiwan is some simple act. Russia is causing MASSIVE damage to China's claim over Taiwan. Russia is proving how terrible an invasion is, how STRONG opposition of the defenders will be, the massive civilian and military losses for little gain. Firm international response at ALL costs even at the risk of nuclear war or financial crash, the world will stand FIRM with the victim. Also, China siding with Russia is a big mistake on every level, international opinion of China, empowering Taiwan to stand firm, the images of war in Ukraine is a disaster for China in terms of PR no matter which side wins.
