People are taking out record high Mortgages due to record high home prices and now high interest rates, if jobs start to go it will be a domino effect just like 2008, don't let the subprime smoke hide the fire, it is risk taking and followed up by steep job losses that caused the 2008 crisis, subprime just made it worse. The only chance to prevent a 2008 repeat is if home prices simmer down and stabilize as a recession is inevitable. Bankrate states the chance of a recession in the next 12-18 months in 1/3 but that does not account for an even more aggressive FED policy which is likely in my opinion. I think that the FED is playing a tightrope game, recession on one side, massive bubble on the other, they have a hard job a head and either option leads to lower home prices it is just a matter of when not if.
