@FairladyS130 Well the US had no land based enemies so did not invest in to developing tanks until WW2 was brewing. Chrysler built the Detroit Arsenal factory for the US Government and operated it and the first product was the Grant tank and just like any first product from a new factory and company it was more of a learning process I guess but the same factory went on to build most of the US tanks including the Sherman and Abrams.

@johnburns4017 The US tank design school came out of the French designs with the Renault FT which was sort of picked up as the design language with the Ford 1918 and has stuck around until the M26 Pershing it seems.
