@3:30 I think Churchill like other good leaders saw long term future and so he realized that once all nations of Europe fell to Germany including the USSR and Brittan then Hitler would not sit on idle hands, he would invade Scandinavia, Switzerland and all other neutral territory. Churchill as such was saying that Brittan was fighting for the independence of Scandinavia even though Scandinavia was not helping at all and in fact was working with Germany and exporting war materials and as such against their own future. This proved true in Norway not long after. When you bow to a tyrant eventually you will fight him too but on his terms.
