@tommygravel5653 Trump has no idea how they work - American companies assemble cars in the USA but the parts, the electronics, wiring, engine and transmission parts, batteries, they are NOT made here, they are all imported and we can't just start making them here out of the blue. It takes many many years to develop parts and some cannot be made here as the cost of manpower is too expensive like electric wiring and electronics modules are way too expensive to make here so you end up doing what? Creating a shortage of supply = inflation. Not just new cars but existing used cars will no longer be repairable without the parts so they will explode in price as well and no one wins from higher prices. The economy slows down, people in the trade are kicked out, fewer people get to own and drive cars so their life is disrupted and all for what? Becasue the trade balance is negative? We in the USA print money, and hand it to other countries for resources and goods. Printing green paper is free, endless, but the hard work of people and limited supply of resources pulled out of the ground is priceless. A trade deficit is win-win. We buy stuff from around the world for just giving them paper for it. We win. Why ruin it?

No cars are made in the USA they are assembled here but the parts are from all over the world. We don't make electronics, modules, wiring, headlights, the parts that go in to the engine and transmission - everything is imported and we don't even know how to make them here. So you cut it off it is going to get nasty real fast. Repair parts? Major price hikes as supply of new cars collapses, inflation in used cars, just when we finally see prices falling they explode up like never before in history

@RangerXXT indeed - tariff = people buy less = economy slows down. Tariff = recession but one that does not end, it can keep going for years and decades and never ends. 1970s-80s 1930s painful periods of time when poor Americans got thrown to the street for what? For imaginary trade balance issues? We buy stuff from the world - other people's hard work and resources - for paper money, paper. We are winning with having a trade deficit. Destroying that means Americans suffer a collapse of quality of life.

Trump, Musk, JD Vance are all working together to enable their backers to conduct an asset theft. You will see them cause damage to the US economy in a coordinated move between everyone involved, so they can buy assets, then swap to positive news and let asset values rise again - this will keep on going. JD Vance, Musk want to destroy the economy so their friends and backers can buy up all the assets. This is all on purpose as an asset grab. You will see this play out time and again as Trump and JD and Musk together all try and damage the US economy then let go at the same time - this is all coordinated.
