China sees a strong rival and yet wants to see itself as superior so I think Xi cannot go there as he thinks it would weaken his image. He might also dislike their culture which I had a small hit of that in a number of events Xi attended. Also, when it comes to military foundation and proof of capabilities that cannot be said of China at least not in the last 100 years, that is different for the subcontinent which has a long tradition of military capabilities under the British Empire so most likely has a very realistic and proven foundation to build on.
