I wonder why shipping companies don't put prices on the heads of Somali pirates? $100,000 for every head brought in seems like a fair price. Dunno why everyone lets the US Navy have most of the fun. Thousands of bounty hunters would be a big help. Or, you know, have the Navy take off the gloves and start actively patrolling the area and blasting every pirate ship they see out of the water on site and leave no survivors. I read one article where they were foolish enough to attack a US battleship (they lost, big shock). 5 wounded pirates were treated and sent back to Somalia (WTF, they should have been tried for piracy and executed).

@VidkunQL Maybe 5000. $500M is a bargain vs the 10's of billions in cargo, time, business, etc they lose every year on top of the ransoms paid. Probably cheaper just to pay lobbyists to get Trump to order the Navy to turn them into shark chum on sight. A few RPG's and AK47's are not much of a match vs. a practically unlimited supply of 150mm shells.
