both sides do that kind of shit for the last 8 years, its a very complicated mess and there is no good guy in this story

@dinaf1409 Only that the west never needed defense because Russia was very happy to trade with us. The ''west'' is not just the US. Just saying.

Maybe when you are dealing with people who are willing to eat dirt just to prove you wrong, then just maybe sanctions that affect civilians is not the best course. Just saying...

They threw in everything and the kitchen sink, it just was not enough. Seriously watching closely this conflict as a citizen of a NATO/EU(proper not ex-soviet third gear) country, who lived through the latest stage of the Cold War as a kid/pre-teen I have to say that that if we had to fight USSR (and its satellites) in a conventional war in the 70's or even the 80's they would steamroll us. We have been fed BS about our capabilities all those decades.

@Livetoeat171 to be more accurate you are a democrat and republican two party oligarchy, but please dont let this wake you up
1
@Livetoeat171 Its ha two parties with very slight differences in the points that really matter. The basic difference with Russia or any oligarchy is that they make you think that you have a choice. When you dont. Thats not democracy. Its not even a republic.

@Lacotemale we will probably know in 20 or 30 years, just like the war in Yugoslavia. Every news outlet was crying for the war crimes of the serbian side, because that was the current narrative. Surprise surprise after 2 decades we are starting to learn about the atrocities that ALL the sides did.

And I have to add that most of these Russian YouTubers are against the war, so they have no reason to sugarcoat the situation. That shows how propaganda works in the big media outlets like cnn or fox. And the amount of retarded comments shows that it has results.

yeah like the great Revolution that happened in US for the last 50 years of perpetual war, oh wait...

@DennyT123 Btw Iraq had some antiquated export version soviet junk, Russia is another game completely. You can understand that if you notice that Ukraine who had access to the proper soviet armament (even if its quite old now) they had a very capable air defense umbrella. Any other European country would be leveled now under the same rates of missiles landing. The Russian airforce dares to try only long distance strikes even after 1.5 years of war. Russia has probably 4x times better air defenses in place, so realistically speaking there is no way to have air superiority over Russian ground. They have the rock to NATO's scissors. Instead of competing the air force they invested on missile tech.

@Pierluigi_Di_Lorenzo The Kharkiv/Kherson offensives had a tremendous cost and succeeded only because of the Russians being seriously outnumbered due to political decisions that cost them dearly. They were not defeated militarily and at the very least they had the brains to prioritize saving their forces than wasting them to pointless last stands like Bakhmut that broke Ukraine's best units. Also they gave alot of false expectations and now that they faced a really organized Russian defense the shock of disappointment adds the the loss of over all moral. Running a war like a PR campaign can lead to these results.

@Pierluigi_Di_Lorenzo dude the Ukrainians had huge losses in the process especially in Kherson out in the open land, that comes from Ukrainian sources if you are not aware of that then maybe refrain from commenting and embarrassing yourself. Especially in Kharkiv the Russians were spread extremely thin and used mostly territorial pro Russian Ukrainian units. And all that was mostly a political defeat that reflected on the military field. Putin was still trying to pass it as a very limited special operation that would not affect the majority of the Russian population. Obviously that would not work because the Russian forces up to that point were outnumbered almost 6 to 1. In fact he is still trying tooth and nail to refrain from declaring war properly and declare a massive draft. But even the limited draft of last year was enough to balance the situation and now the Ukrainians are falling into a wall.
