  1.  @mitchrodee giving sophisticated weapons to people who were trained only according to some papers, and hype building media reports, and then kicking them out of the door towards a conflict that is probably the most gruesome since WWII, is like sending them to their deaths. There are rumors that some of the crews of those weapons sabotaged them by themselves because they knew that they were a primary target. Probably the Russian propaganda blows up this out of proportion but I don’t find it hard to believe that a crew of a Leopard 2 A6 would prefer to fake malfunction, than waiting to be roasted alive in a machine they can barely operate.

  2. History is full of nuance and complexity. Hungary was indeed attacked by the USSR (with Ukraine being second SSR only to Russia) but one can argue that during WWII the Hungarians joined the nazis and got their punishment. The Soviets were not in Eastern Europe to pass around flowers and good wishes. They were there to punish nazi collaborator states and make sure that there would be a huge buffer zone that any invader would have to go through before reaching again the borders of the actual USSR. That’s what the Warsaw pact countries really was. A buffer zone with amenities. The big question is at what point this punitive stance, becomes unfair for the post WWII generations? And then the things get complicated, because the older generations might have their nest full of shit, but their kids and grand children haven’t done anything and cannot understand this collective punishment. From their perspective they fight for freedom against an oppressor. In my opinion both the Russians and the Hungarians dropping this grudge and deciding to find a way to at least have a healthy dialogue if they can’t be friendly altogether, is the the wisest choice. Like Hungary so in my country, Greece, the majority of people understand the reasons of this war and if not standing altogether with Russia, then they surely want this thing to end immediately with some kind of peace talks. The government and the media is another story altogether. They are talking as if they were taken prisoners by Brussels and US. And it’s not too far from the truth. We are clearly going against our public interest, and if there was not the excuse of having to hold on to our weapons because of Turkey, I’m sure that we would unload everything to Ukraine to be burned up in some failed tv offensive.

  3.  @mitchrodee  My dude you are extremely biased and you are just reaching, you don’t have a solid argument yourself as you might think. Yes Ukraine held much better than anyone would think because an unprecedented amount of money and weapons were poured in, even before the war officially started. But at what cost? It’s male population. The losses are tremendous and the US and EU (because the US twists our politicians arm) keeps pouring in equipment and throwing them back into the ring. These people have not real experience on that kind of equipment and all the ex-soviet equipment that could be gathered and sent is already burnt. Yes it’s like sending over weapons to be captured and people to get killed. That’s exactly the reason why US felt the need to DOWNGRADE the Abrams tanks they would sent over. That’s why they are not providing training on the latest variants of F16 but try to do with Dutch junk that only flew against seagulls.
