  2. THAAD is for ballistic missiles at high altitude. Patriot is for airplanes (at least initially, now also to be used against ballistic missiles, but it doesn't work very well apparently) Note that Patriot has both a rocket at 300 kg and one at 900 kg, same as THAAD. There is also "Aegis Ashore" but that one is labeled as "midcourse interceptor" while THAAD and Patriot seem to compete for the same "terminal phase" interception on slideware. Confusing. Wikipedia says "The THAAD interceptor carries no warhead, instead relying on its kinetic energy of impact to destroy the incoming missile." That's very hard to do, and probably impossible once the incoming rocket starts to manoeuver a bit.
