  5. What an interesting community with such open and friendly people! Guma was especially helpful with her explanation of the history of communal marriage...I hadn't considered the population control aspect, which would be important in an area of limited agriculture. It's also quite surprising that social media would be so prevalent and lucrative in such a remote area, but Guma has found a way to make a living for herself as well as build up the village economy...what a smart, wonderful woman!

  14. Great content. Other youtubers only tried to show the surfaces of China, big cities, tourist places, newly built buildings and shopping malls. They tend to forget that China is very big and only few big cities do not represent the whole China. There are so many towns and villages in China are still living like the old days which make them culturally interesting, not tall buildings or neon led lights all over and no trees at all.

  15. I visited the tulou over CNY 2018 - the tourist ones but also stayed in a small village to celebrate CNY eve, and it was amazing. I'm an expat living in China 10 years and one thing I can say about Chinese people, at least from my own experiences, they are so welcoming, love to welcome you into their homes, no matter whether they are rich or not, and constantly want to feed you lol. Language barrier does not exist because actions speak louder than words.

  16. I'm a 4th generation Chinese America living in Hawaii. My husband is from Sweden so I have traveled and seen much of Europe. Sadly, I've never been to China yet. I speak Swedish and French but sadly cannot speak Chinese, and my heritage is Chinese. :( What beautiful and interesting videos you produce! They are produced with such a lovely sincerity and warmth, I feel I have been able to travel, and see personally these incredible far away places. I just discovered your channel by chance and watched your "Narrowest City" episode with rapt attention. Forest, grassland, rolling hills, rivers, fog, autumn color, nice horse, cute dog, farming/herding village, wooden houses, nice old lady, great bread, old church, different cultures mix and mingle at the border, motorbikers ride together then say good bye, beautiful sunset, moon rise, and lastly a good meal at a warm lodge in the evening. Feel like the whole human history/experience is distilled in this episode, a masterpiece.

No matter what the western negative narrative are about the Chinese system of government, I have to say that the government/local authorities are doing something right as you can see from the many of old villages and towns which are so neat, clean and well-maintained that are unlike the pictures shown in western media showing Chinese towns and villages with their dilapidated buildings and dirty pavements and streets.   31. i grew up in the western mountains of the USA and small towns, vast views of desert landscapes feel like home to me. In isolated places, people are grateful for company, don't take resources for granted, and find happiness in simple living. I love seeing this in China. We have different cultures and history but a shared humanity. Especially with Western propaganda/bias in media, this is the kind of thing we don't see in movies or tv and I'm grateful to see it here. thank you for sharing this with us

Americans often fail to conceptualize just how many more people live in China compared to the USA, and propaganda has convinced many americans that china is devoid of culture or completely homogeneous because of communist governance.   46. I am from Bhutan. You are right. Monpa people reside in Bhutan, especially in the eastern part of Bhutan. In the last part of your video where people are seen playing archery, I can hear them speaking the Tshangla language, one of the major dialects of Bhutan. We are told they migrated there from Bhutan in the early 20th century.

Watching a local chinese vlogger who also interacts with the locals of the places she visited gives as a different and deeper insights into the lives of people there, as opposed to international tourists who vlog about China. The common language in part helps to facilitate interaction, although older folks you can only communicate in their own dialects/language.
