Great Work, well done John. Interesting Story you picked here.

great research as always, i believe you will hit that million subs mark in the near future.

I am also the adult child of an alcoholic immigrant who couldn’t keep a job.

I really liked this video. I think there are many talented people who would make excellent online instructors but are afraid to start because they don't want to be labeled a "fake guru". There's a stigma against making money online with courses. But I also think there is a huge market for it; I've paid for several excellent online courses myself. I'll send this to anyone who has doubts.

This video was so good, I had to watch it twice. Trying to solve these problems using deterministic "brute force", like searching the maze, indeed only works for very small problems. Modern AI (machine learning) uses probabilities to non-deterministically explore the search space with the heuristics being applied at the data collection, and data clearing stage, and well as within the choice of the machine Learning algorithm's architecture. It's still "brute-force"-ish, but look at the breakthroughs we get from that!

This hits so close to home! I remember in my last startup where us three founder got our first customer by talking to a lady who was a convenience store owner around the corner from our office and she would go to a warehouse to pick up cartons of cigarettes every morning at 6am. Delivering those for her ourselves every morning before work and taking notes about every bump on the road was our first $10/day. Doing what is perceived as "dirty work" and things that don't scale early on was the secret to developing empathy in process of our product that led to success. The truth is, there really is no work life balance when building. People who peddle this misconception that you can work nice hours and still build a startup from scratch are either extremely wealthy already and afford that luxury or they have never built a startup. True grit and eating sand is what is required. But the funny thing is, you do it with a smile when you are in it. You can literally see this on the face of the founders here which is the reason why they are in the best position to win!

You know it's a John Coogan video when your mouse instinctively gravitates toward the like button 👍

So sick that I found your channel while it's still under 1000 subs! Keep it up with the videos! You could maybe add some background music to set the pace/tone of the story
34
You're not Elon Musk. You're Tom Holland's brother.
33
Such a great job with these videos. Keep up the great work!
32
You’re such a helpful and underrated creator
31
If this didn't get you fired up check your pulse! The production on this video was fantastic. If you keep this up this channel is going to the moon. Felt like I was watching an intro to a college football game. I asked you a couple months back to do more videos on Peter Thiel and you have definitely delivered. May I request a video on Balaji Srinivasan's startup city/ country concept? Also, start tweeting these videos out, the world needs to see this. Keep up the great work John!

This channel is such a gem. Thanks for sharing your story and unique perspective on business, entrepreneurship, and life.

Been on a rabbithole on your channel -- thank you so much for making this, I love your analysis and thought process on topics that dont sit in traditional good/bad analysis. You seem like an arbiter of shades of grey. Cheers mate

John is epic with his titles 😁

Thanks for not asking for sub, thanks for not wasting my time and keeping it straight to the point. Your channel is on MKBHD level. Congrats!!
28
Just discovered your channel today. Love the production value and persona, and the way information is displayed. Thank you.

I love how a lot of the business concepts that we learnt in startups have been unlearnt through this video and props to Trada founder team and even the investor in making this business work and their belief it will be a trillion dollar business!
27
Very impressive, The in-depth research you have done is amazing.

Really good video man, easily one of the best pieces of content I've watched this year, on the level of Netflix documentaries

3 rules to make it work in Silicon Valley: #1: Watch every John Coogan video #2 Always smash the like button #3 Don't forget rules #1 and #2

Of all of the military channels I watch and of all of the economic channels I watch yours is the first to truly break down the chip dilemma in China. I have been looking for just this very channel to help me understand exactly what is happening with the dilemma of chips going to or from China I love your breakdown I think you are insightful. I don't think I said it so I will say it now I subscribed to your channel and I look forward to more.

Peter Thiel has a saying that you shouldn't start a restaurant in Palo Alto, because it is a classic example of an overcrowded market where all the profits get competed away. However, Thiel didn't say anything about starting a restaurant delivery service in Palo Alto. This Thielian loophole is what the DoorDash founders discovered and exploited to build their business, while still ensuring full compliance with the core tenets of Thielian business philosophy.

Love these "the saga" videos!
23
Big ups John! Thanks for this video
23
John your channel is absolutely underrated, and is one of the best sources of information for independently made documentaries.
22
Damn this is a good video, might be doing some venture funding soon so this will be a big help
22
I'm a big fan of Naval and learned a ton I didn't know here! Thanks again for another great video John.
22
And this is why your channel will work out great 💪. And I agree this title is pretty much perfect for the recent times where tweets can move markets!
21
The takeaway is monopolies are fine until they’re not. Period. It’s not “absolutely bad” or “absolutely good”. It depends, like most things.

Awesome video John!!! Your videos are so informative and encompasing. Keep up the good work!!!

Great video John. In my opinion Peter is the most powerful thinker alive. Perhaps you could do a video on Peter's take on the university system or the university system more generally. His description is spot on. Even more impressive is his Thiel Fellowship and the results that its alumni have produced. One could argue that the TF has had a greater impact on society per capita in the past few years than Stanford, MIT, Harvard or any of the other top schools. Why don't other billionaires fund similar programs? It seems like a great way to break the stranglehold that universities have on education. It is akin to the effect Martin Luther's 95 thesis and the printing presses had on breaking the Vatican's monopoly on Christianity. Lastly I will end my novel with my favorite Peter Thiel quote: "Good for society or good as seen by society". Keep up the great work John!

This was incredibly informative. It's full of details I never heard about their story but I was always wondering about.
20
Loved to see the disclaimer! Such an startup way to quickly incorporate the users feedback from your last video.
20
When I just started reading about him this gem comes out.
20
At first this new intro style felt a bit weird and was giving off some "negative tech sensationalism" vibes (like many channels that I won't name), but soon this faded away as I realized the quality of the content and interestingness is, as always, so high!
19
Great video, thank you for sharing. I often have the impression that many companies would benefit from the "building the machine that builds the machine" focus philosophy also outside the car and manufacturing industries.
19
It's amazing how he actually wasn't just saying baseless arguments but he gathered up his facts and provided a really intelligent and interesting debate. This is the best video I've watched concerning metaverse right now. ❤❤
18
your content is awesome man!
18
Gotta hand it to you John, that's one killer title.
17
Great video, with many nuggets of YC application wisdom! Thank you for sharing your own story too, it made it extra relatable. I'll look back on this video next time I apply to YC.
17
Another great vid John 👌
17
You don’t stoop to amaze me! Keep on with the good journalism and grate videos! ❤
17
Awesome explanation! DeFi is just becoming open finance. And a better consumer UI + progressively more decentralized backend might end up beating fully decentralized backend with progressively better UI (eth). Also having a more centralized team as solana does helps. John always breaks this stuff down so effectively!!
17
I subscribed to your channel earlier this year when you had 2.2k subscribers. It feels really good to see your channel grow, you have amazing content.
17
I love those underdog hacker type inspirational stories! Makes me want to start a new business haha
16
Great explanation of how the technology and business decisions tie into each other. Really shows the strategy and thought process that lead to them. Your ability to combine well know facts into thoughtful insights is what I like the most about your analysis. Like the SpaceX excess capacity - star link - star ship synergy. Great work all around! I know that you like to keep your opinions out of the videos somewhat, but what do you think? About the Cruise "service model once self driving works" vs the Tesla "direct to consumers, improved along the way" ? It seems to me that Cruise lost the get something in the hands of users as quickly as possible ethos - or am I missing something?
16
This is such a well-researched video. Well done!
15
Awesome. I've been following Naval on twitter for quite some time now. He's incredibly sharp and smart. So who's next in this series? Balaji Srinivasan?
