  10. The title shot got the silhouette effect by having the camera at ground level as the team approached at ground level. Tactically they were still solid as they were walking out of their LZ which was flat and tree lined all around. Others already covered the flannel and jeans bit for that particular MTF. The hole the chemlight was dropped down was directly below where the floating civilian was in the debrief. Hence why it was treated with such care. Sidenote: 'Roger' and 'Wilco' were common Naval radio calls back during my service in the 90's. Any radioman could use 'roger' as an acknowledgement, but only the CO, XO, CIO, or the OOD could use or authorize a 'wilco' response. The chillness came to the MTF after the initial recon of the hole because it didn't immediately prove hostile and looking further down was the responsibility of another MTF (the Mole Rats that are mentioned). A great deal of the inconsistencies in their terrain movements and especially in their building clear tactics was a result of goofs in editing. In particular the primary target being out in the open like he was. He was supposed to show up to one side of the 2nd floor hall. And yes, they had a top tier tactical advisor. A behind the scenes video talks about how the cast were put through about 14 hours worth of building clear drills to get it right. The missing persons posters was the first scene that gave me the chills, mainly because they were placed directly along the MTF's approach route. The burning effigy approach and walk-by was a one-take show by necessity because of scheduling, lighting, and only being able to burn the effigy once. The owner of the farm land didn't quite understand what was going on so he started rolling the hay bales while they were setting up for the shot so they just added them in. The 'out of the fog' shot was also cluttered because it was multiple MTF teams converging (inner cordon and scouts together). The door bunching I think was one of those balance between tactics and camera work shots.

  25. Dunno how realistic this this is but when setting up a trench system the deathkorp will shell the location for trenches with artillery. This leaves craters which they can then use as cover. when in the craters two men will dig a fox hole. Once done they will go back to back and dig their way to the next fox hole forming the trench network. The deathkorp have a type of soldier called a quartermaster. These are the first rung of commissioned officer in the deathkorp. Their role has evolved slightly from when they fought on their irradiated hellhole of a planet after the council of autarchs's rebelled against the imperium. These guys serve the purpose of recovering anything salvageable from the battlefield. be it the lucius pattern las rifles they use, thier equipment or even the soldier himself so yes their role does encompass the duties of a field medic. The officer in charge ordering a bayonet charge is most likely an imperial Commissar. Commisars are like their soviet inspired counterparts political officers attached to imperial guard armies to instil discipline often by force. They aren't above executing their own troops but at the same time they aren't above carrying out acts that they expect troops in their command to carry out. They often lead by example. Problem for commissars in the deathkorps is that they are often put in charge of troops far more zealous than they are. Commissars are typically not from the planet of origin that the regiment is from. The Commissar in question is likely not from krieg. The gasmasks that the deathkorp wear is a throwback to their origins on their home world again. They typically will not take them off even if there's no NBCD threat apparent. The chaos cultists (mortal men, women and in some cases children! grim I know) are often highly fanatical but not highly trained. Armed with autoguns, basic bitch gun powder weapons or stubbers (mounted LMG's) and lasguns if lucky. mortals are generally used as cannon fodder, meatshields if you will for more important units in a traitor army such as chaos space marines and are often flung en masse at an enemy. Man to man an Imperial guardsmen is more than a match for a basic cultist. But there's often WAAAAAY!!!!! more cultists than IG. The cultists may have the entire planets population in their ranks

  47. So to give a few more points the video misses: 1. Battlefleet Cadia doesn’t rely upon the planet for troops or resources or even port. The Battlefleet is stationed at Cadia for it’s the gateway to the Imperium however it rely upon several massive ports throughout the sector. In addition, additional fleet elements from all over the imperium are usually sent to reinforce the Cadian gate during black crusades - primarily Battlefleet Gothic tho Battlefleet Solar that protects the Sol system itself (I.e. our star systems) sent reinforcements to Cadia too. 2. Cadians are trained from a young age to be soldiers first but the video is wrong about the literacy. They do go over literacy as like you said understanding written orders and other stuff is of great importance, however, they skip the whole advanced literacy unless you move up in the ranks. A basic literacy skill is given to young Cadians so they can read what they are doing, however, said young blood primary duties are learning how to strip and use a lasgun & bayonet, however those going from the ages of 5-10 are usually taught more in the skills of being spotters, messengers and most importantly ammo luggers for no matter the age when the enemy strikes Cadia you are apart of your home worlds defence no matter the age. Once they reach what Cadians believe is maturity 10ish. They begin then inducting them proper into the guard. By this point they should already know the basic of using and maintaining and servicing a lasgun as well as a uniform as such this training is more to bring them in line with the Cadian white shield standard. Once they are properly inducted into a white shield unit, they’ll have chance to serve in some combat close to home - usually anti-pirate, ork and Eldar raider duties tho they can be sent to proper front line units if required/desired. Once they have completed their time as a white shield they can make said choice to join the military industrial complex or the shock troops proper. 3. “The planet broke before the Guard” is a true calling after Cadia fell - tho it has been meme’d to hell. But it represents the guards stubbornness. Throughout all 40k canon the guard are the true guardians of the imperium. The Astartes are but a swift dagger to stab into an enemy when they are weak of vulnerable. The Mechanicus could barely care for the death of people outside their forge worlds unless it means said death hurts their duties. The sister are religious extremists more caring for the defence of monasteries and priest - tho they also sometimes fail in that, normally getting a bit hot under the helmets and charging to meet the enemy even if said enemy is out numbering and fighting them. The guard have always been the true hero’s of the imperium and throughout almost every battle they will be the last standing and the last fighting - their are lots of times where Astartes chapter have abandoned planets due to light casualties (or other more inter chapter/personal reasons) and left the guard to fend for themselves. As such the phrase stands true to all guardsmen that no matter the threat they will never abandon their homes or post until death take them.
