"I didn't give a fuck who the President was" 😁😂😂. True that, this journey requires cutting off so many things and just focusing.

Two years studying cs at uni and most of this sounds foreign to me, I am cooked lmao

Nice explaination man. Success for you! I also learned alot on personal projects. I built an entire CRM with a partner, we started selling it as a white label SAAS and ended up being bought by a company. So besides the learning curve, we also made a good amount of cash with it. Keep it going
9
Haha this was very timely as I'm currently learning TDD from The Odin Project. Thank you!

Coding saves lives 💪 Let's push the video up the algorithm; More comments!!!
9
That was super detailed man, thank you! It's crazy to think you went from bootcamp to securing multiple gov contracts so quickly.

Hey Phillip. You took the plunge at 29 that I should have a long time ago too. At 38, I stuck to what was the "safe" route and ended up with some damn city job. Thinking back I'd switch places with you. Congrats on the bravery, the family and starting this youtube. It takes a lot more courage to do what you did.

😂 00:25 same shit different toilet, looool

My approach nowadays is if I need to learn something, mainly for frameworks. Let's say I wanna learn framer-motion. This is what I would do. 1. YouTube: type "framer-motion crash course"; next filter out the search result by 1-year-old videos. So, I get the somewhat updated content. Follow along with the video. Once that is done 2. Official Docs: Learn the same things again on the Docs. In the crash course, they miss out on some nuances if I don't understand the Docs then AI. 3. AI: ChatGPT/Cladue Ask every silly doubt I have, and squeeze out the info I want. Because they won't yell at me. 4. Project: Then I implement the concepts on my projects.

if asian people can't fine a job, do other people have a chance?

Let Phil is the best community! Coding saves lives!

im taking a front end dev course thru a jr college and im also following you! i am really enjoying it and its been quite easy so far. im hoping to keep going and finish with a good score. i am encouraged by your videos!

All habits that give us respect at our companies for doing it.

There's a small bug in the code in the fist line: if (!a || !b) throw New Error("both arguments should be passed") While this works for most cases, if you enter in an input like sum(0, 5), it will return an error rather than 5 because 0 is a falsy value. I think doing something like if (a == null || b == null) would be more suitable because this checks if the inputs are null or undefined, or just deleting the first line because the typeof check would already be able to handle null and undefined inputs.

Hope you doing good brother 😊

Programmers bring insane value to a company, they should be PAID
8
I feel like a complete useless programmer, following tutorial after tutorial and can't build anything substantial. It definitely does suck right now
8
I did the same and never looked back. I gained valuable relationships and network as well as a skill to change my own life. Thank you coding. Coding saves lives.
8
we have the same experiences, BAD circumtances changes us internally and slaps us the reality. Glad I'm not alone in this journey in Software Development

I love the senior developer I am today as well! It’s all a matter of consistency for me
8
Coding saves lives!! I’m staying vigilant to become a senior developer like you. I want to provide financial stability for my family and always maintain a growth mindset. There isn’t an end goal for me. Just be better than the day before. Wise words Phil. Doing the uncomfortable thing that will make you better isn’t easy but it’s damn better than the alternative.
7
I’m stuck doing dev ops at a big tech company even though I was supposed to be fullstack. Imma do these to sharpen my skills to hopefully jump ship. God I hate dev ops
7
You probably get this a lot. But you’re definitely an inspiration for me. I’m mid 30s right now and just learning how to do it all. I’m battling imposter syndrome before I’ve even landed a job lol. I’ve attempted this a few times over the years and self doubt always won. But this time around, I’ve decided there is no other option and I owe it myself to give it all I got. Coincidentally a few days after I decided this, your videos started poppin up. I guess I’m just trying to say thanks for sharing your story. It helps a lot in between cigarette breaks.
7
Let’s go Phil, but one thing for sure is coding saves lives
7
At work, had to comment first. Already know it’s a banger vid haha
7
I have a similar story. Just a year and a half ago I was a piper at an amazon phlebotomy warehouse making nothing! Signed up for a bootcamp and learned Rudy on Rails and now I'm making the big bucks. Shout out to the shkreli coding academy. Job Ready!
7
It's correlated to the Section 174 of the TCJA change that begun in 2022 > required to capitalize and amortize R&E expenditures > no longer immediately deduct these costs in the year incurred > Domestic R&E Expenses: Must be amortized over a 5-year period > Foreign R&E Expenses: Must be amortized over a 15-year period > amortization begins at the midpoint of the taxable year in which the expenditures are paid or incurred tldr: taxes ruined the industry and the job market

JavaScript is very easy language to learn... words of senior developer... LOL. JavaScript is one of the most hardest languages to master like ever. Why? Because dude made it as one week challenge in 1995. And because of this and thingy called don't break the web and many many added things (to language and ecosystem) now we have a monster language to deal with.
7
You’re taking the time to make videos, share your emotions and journey with the world. That’s tough man, but you’re tougher. You’re a hero.. ❤
7
The freedom definitely is nice, but at the same time the nagging feeling of trying to be somebody sucks. It's a bittersweet relationship because a lot of us tie our self worth into the work we do. I've been out of a job for a little over a month now and I'm just now starting to rebound about my feelings of self worth as I work towards new goals. You seem like a very humble and good person. You have something going with this channel man. Stay positive!

Coding was a skill i needed to help my business thrive. It opened doors for me and helped me surround myself with go getters.
7
I was a developer for 5 years after graduating from university. Something told my brain and myself by my mid to late 20s that this was a horrible occupation. Gave me serious depression and other mental health problems. I haven't written code for just over 30 years now. Which is why I am still here, as a free man, rather than being 6 feet under or living in a secure mental institution. The ICT industry is definitely not for many many people.
6
I want one lol 🎉
6
best mantra "if i can do it you can do it, coding saves life".. yeah
6
Taking risks and denying self doubt is what it’s all about! I am already enjoying the video!
6
Very Genuine, I can't wait to become a web developer. Thanks a lot, Philip.

Hi Phil. Love these short, to the point videos. I am sorry you got laid off. I am a new grad MLE myself and I believe I have so much to offer but I can barely get any interviews since no one wants to hire new grads and the coding challenges I complete lead to nothing. Seeing someone as experienced as you go through this makes me realize how bad the tech market is right now but then again 'Every No is a step closer to Yes'. Good luck man.
6
I just watched first part and now this. You already got a interview. You got this
6
Thank you, I'm a junior developer and facing the same right now
6
From a mid-level developer, asking for help is okay guys, but make sure to do all the work first before asking. Also document your stuff.
6
letphil best coding community~
6
You're a great mentor
6
You are old when you say you are old me with 25 years old: I feel old dude.
6
u are the goat
6
Looking forward to the weekly lessons here, thanks bro 💪 glad the connect worked out.
6
I really hope you got a stake in their company... Doing incredible work that causes them to pivot business is an insane win. You deserve a piece of that business now
6
you are answering people that ask questions! Outstanding...Not many do it like you. Most of the "coding" channels are , imo copycat channels that just using the niche without any skills at all, they have absolutely no interest to interact with their subscribers..for them its all abut the numbers and the money they made off of it ...without coding , just talking about it.
6
really inspiring video and really great advice for a begginer like me thank you 🙂 but when you say about all this it feels a lil overwhelming (maybe bcs i dunno JS) but yeah i'll learn it soon
6
i short if you wanna learn something you need to learn from creating a project
