Although I was convinced at an early age that Abrahamic religions were nonsense in their core metaphysical claims and the fables through which they narrate the story of mankind, I have always accepted that Christianity, in particular, was central to the "soul" of the West. And I have accepted that Christianity has had great utility in giving people the confidence to "get on with life." But I've had only a few, vague ideas about ~how~ , exactly, it managed this shaping of the Western mind, including the secular, Western mind. I found this episode of "The West" to be like drinking from a firehose on that topic. It was, to me, intensely stimulating and intellectually exciting. Am I certain that everything said here was spot-on? No, but I have no particular criticisms on first hearing; I just have so very much to think about and consider. (It would sure be swell to have a transcript.)
NCF is a treasure!
