  12. No they didn’t. Racism existed a long time before America was founded. Shakespeare wrote “Othello” in 1603, and “The Merchant of Venice” as late as 1599. Both have racist elements to them.

  13. Trump didn’t win by gaining more support… at least, not a notable amount. He won because millions of people who voted for Biden in 2020 simply chose to sit this election out. I want to be madder at them for thinking the Democrats wouldn’t be much different… but I can’t. Because the Democrats barely tried to give that impression.

  14. He’s not asking them to be perfect. He’s asking them to commit to progressive promises they make, things like paid family leave and low housing prices that a lot of Americans want. He’s mad because whenever they do, it’s not long before they put it down or chicken out.

  23. I'm reminded of something I heard a comedian (whose name I can't remember) say about Sarah Palin. Apparently, she's beloved by the Republican party for fitting their "dumb woman" stereotype, someone to cast as both a true patriot and a comforting presence for the "only men should do the important stuff" crowd. I'm not sure how true that is; I've only been following major politics since 2015... but that honestly looks like what's going on here.
