It developed when it had a real manufacturing advantage... Into what?
8
Arguably China is employing techniques developed during the capitalist-industrial revoution in the service of creating capital where as the west is more interested in reverting to the few owning less of a shrinking pot... The west model has been tried [feudalism-impiralism] and leads to distaster.
8
We are lucky fucks arn't we?
8
We are going to have to steal their buisness model.
8
@BarkWhoGoesThere Brenton Woods was a system where centuries established impiralists got together to develop an economic system. Brics is a group of industrialzing countries, who have been industrializing for 40-50 years, are developing an INDUSTRIAL policy.... It ain't gonna to happen real fast as some project but there is an inevatabillty where those who IDUSTRIALIZE win over those who DEINDUSTRIALIZE. If the west wants to stop it they need to take idustrializing policies of their rivals.... These policies used to be called capitalism. Now some, including Ben Norton, call these policies socialism...

I am still interested in Latin America...
7
My impression is that the pandemic provided cover for the flagging US hegimonic economimy...
7
This is sure to convince Victoria Nuland.
7
@Dorian_sapiens Soverenty is consitantlhy against US policy for a long time.... Those polices are enforced by US proxies some of which are listed in official US goverment documents which I quoted in the earlier comment... For more information on those consistant policies you can refference Michael Hudson "America’s Neoliberal Financialization Policy vs. China’s Industrial [capitalism]"
7
@jamesmorrow1646 I suppose most expect that Europe and especially Ukrane will be abandoned to the US empire... Professors Hudson and Desai describe the empire as a throw back to the good old days when there was a genetic aristocracy that ran things in their own interest who arn't even creating capital but destroying it. Its an oldy..... but it ain't a goody...
7
@Allpro007 Deleated comment after deleated comment... It is hard to get any dialog into the conversation.
7
@denishooi6547 Like we had a choice between democrats and Trump... Trump out flanked the democats to the left.
7
They kind of echo what I am reading and my biases but it is also very exiting... Ben has been doing good work before this as well, but this goes to the kernel.
7
Destiney of civilization is not a big deal to read and it has a great payload as well.
7
I don't know what Ben means but I am sure that his definition of capitalism is debatable. He is very clear with his examples but not so clear when he employs words like fedalim, captialism, socialism.
7
@ovidiudraghici9941 If money dosn't matter that much, try living without it.
7
@samstone4320 To me Wolff doesn't even aknoledege debt and rent... When I listen to him I feel dizzy.
7
@donho526 I do like Norton. He keeps with Hudson ortodoxy.
7
Objection. Speculation.
6
Norton sticks with the script and is eloquent as heck as well.
6
That is because we have monopolites in control of all the key choke points in our economy...
6
Yellen' : "Chinese capitalism works too good. Slow down." Chinese: Stuff it.
6
The US seems to be isloating it's self.
6
Your everywhere,
6
Shananagins.... That is what Hillary said to Wall Street: "Hey stop your shanangins" And it worked.
6
@nemojedermann2845 They spend a great deal on navel vessles amd they have the biggest navy in the world. So they DO spend on militarism.
6
@crytow5071 What I think I mean is the way adam smith and ricardo, perhaps mills described capitalism... Then how world hegimons like the US took off taking into account real economic realities rather than generalities... Lula did a as well as Ben Norton covered a lot of those things here... Michael Hudson describes a lot of the properties of what the 'physiocrats' would call 'cerculation' ... To me the spisifics are better than the generallities..
6
@Crapitalism I think others would call it capitalism or real capitalism.
6
@donHooligan She sounds as if she has been asleep for twenty years.
6
.... 'Not sure that GDP is a good marker of production/consumption cylce.... Imagine a body where an area takes blood and don't return it? Otherwise where is this argument documented?
6
I have two main questions... Why they use they dub these emerging economies 'socialst' rather than 'industrial capitalists' I would swear the west's model is more of a feudalsit modle? After multiple discussions with Professor Michael Hudson, I wounder why Norton hasn't made that shift. And What does he mean by multi-pollar vs bi-pollar? I really am confused as to what he means by mulit-pollar and what that would look like.
6
He sticks with the script... He reads and listens to genious and is eloquent as fuck.
5
@joefer5360 I suppose so... When money was made, no one ever saw it until the accounts were settled at harvest time. Industrialization change that... Real capitalism is like letting the people who make things keep what they make... Money lended at interest is known in some circles as 'dead capital' and it sucks the life out of makers.
5
I am a bit on the short attention span order but... If ben is talking I am listening...
5
I read the heart wrenching Killing the Host first.... I would recomend reading Destiny of Civilization first or J is for Junk first although I havn't read J is for Junk.
5
@cavebabybezerkers Not really. It is all about the resources and monopolies.... Their hegimony is very threatened and it is striking out. To think that buisness, what we do everyday to survive, ain't a spiritual query is odd.
5
Why not? Many are industrialists. If Russia is at full employment they can afford to have western european enclaives.... Here in the states we have Mexican and Polish enclaves... I rather like the Mexicans.
5
Lots of luck with that. The US would deindustrailze even if their labor wasn't loaded down with debt.
5
So frustrating.
5
@Allpro007 It is possible that he will show progress in freedom of speech, lawfare and peace.
5
A jorney of a thousand miles begins with a single step....
5
Incompentent as well.... I am not sure when or how we will ever get into making capital rather than destroying it.. If we don't it will spell the end of our civilization. That there are so many assets about suggests that there was a time when we were making capital...
5
The US can't produce as much and as good stuff economically because of neoliberalism.... Supliers in the US have to keep the pressure on the goverment to keep their monopoly markets.
5
She is evil and stupid.... Obama didn't look evil but he was.
5
@DemiGod.. My impression is that this is an admission of the reason for the war[s] is to preserve western hegenomy.... Perhaps western hegemony now a days is partly fiction compared to the Brits back in the day...
5
@cstevenson5256 Good catch.... That is what I be thinking... It is a 'currency manipulation' thing to keep their currency in ballance while they sell all kinds of things for less... I don't really understand this well... I don't understand the 'dutch deseease' and I find reading Super Impiralism frustrating 'cause I don't get a lot of it.
4
Forks Knife?.... Is that a financhal vehicle that I don't understand?
4
@wnklee6878 Maybe the Wicked Witch of the West would be a better choice.
4
The most important subsidy of Chinese industry comes from subsides to labor to keep labor prices down.
4
I would like to know the corilaries between CBDC international currencies and Keynes' international currecny proposal in Brenton Woods.... The day is short and the mountain is very high.
