@AndrewTBP it seems like someone should be making a fresh run of DUKWs .. they might come in handy in Ukraine 🇺🇦 and for humanitarian missions.. I know that I want one.. a DUKW in every garage ..!

@AptMantis2278 The present crisis is taking up a lot of my otherwise historical viewing time ..

The Japanese Ships Bows were quite unique .. and each nation seemed to favor different types ..The history of ships bow is quite a lengthy subject as it goes back to Ugg and his floaty log thingy …

@kennethdeanmiller7324 oops 😬..spelling is my Achilles Heel
1
@pincopallino6765 it was a close run thing both times … but when your relying on a new weapon only …don’t be surprised when the enemy develops countermeasures …going to war against the worlds largest navy plus colony’s may not be the best idea ….
1
Decisive Battles …. They were only off by one letter….. and then awaking a sleeping giant and millions of angered American Samari

Do you think the ATLANTIS ‘S capture of the Singapore Dossier gave Japan the idea that an invasion was possible ?
1
@pincopallino6765 if you don’t have control of the seas around and to your home waters your probably not in any position to go to war in the first place…?
1
Thank you Drach ..!
1
The British had a cunning plan ... indeed I’m not sure they imagined how well it would pay off ! Plus a second life that was more spectacular than its previous incarnation..the WW2 monitors being my favorite Frankensteinish monsters.... but which is your favorite conversion ?
1
I’m not sure which is scarier being on top of those lattice masts or one those AA platforms ...it probably was impossible to hit anything from a swaying platform 100 feet in the air ..?
1
@kemarisite The 1000lb bombs on the Forestall were from ww2 and they cooked off way too soon ….I forget who… but one of the officers didn’t want to bring them onboard from the ammunition ship ..But most Munitions have a sell by date …. So it kinda explains why we blow up some county ever 20-30 years …
1
The Coast of the Adriatic is a mine field in itself … possibly worse than the the straights of Tsushima …. In your opinion what is the most confined and dangerous place for a Naval Battle … The EnglishChannel , the Baltic , the Bosporus straights …? Thank you

Understood , Empathy is one tough opponent, I cried about the horrible loss of life . I served on the flight deck of the USS Forestall and when one of your shipmates goes missing at sea it leaves you with a lifetime of questions !
1
When a ship is scrapped .. is the armor reused or melted down .. seems like armor plate is very expensive and worth reusing if possible… and a larger question of how is a ship scrapped and what is repurposed

Drydock # 1 mentioned the Whitehead Torpedo …. and just gotta know more … Was the Oskerborg Fortress equipped with the cable type or some other variety …. and what was its developmental history and early adoption by various navy’s, as each country branched out into different designs …Many Thanks
1
Speaking of Eric Brown…… I’m sure Drach has an episode planned for covering his career and those thousands of carrier landings… and help this bewildered American understand why.. he wasn’t Knighted …? I guess he was just doing his duty … bravely , skillfully and Incredibly well ..
1
@kemarisite the p38 had real problems … low Mach limits and the roll rate of a whale … they had to install five flaps and aileron boosters which took a while … the FW 190 would have eaten it for breakfast
1
Indeed … I think he was one of the greatest pilots of all time … He could have broken the sound barrier first ..

Mahan’s point about the ratio of coastline to Landmass … and a divided coastline “Russia “ … is maybe one of those points that seem self evident … but he is trying to explain Naval Strategy to Landlubbers … I’m guessing Japan had the highest and Britain was Second … but fractal geometry would have to get involved on that calculation..
1
They must have carved the word Revenge on every timber and plank and mast and sail .. because she sure did get hers ...was the keel made from the vengeance oak ..?

Looks like a big version of a Schnell Boat ... Hopefully a forthcoming episode ... ? The SBoats Really caused a disproportionate amount of trouble ... akin to the Mosquito both were fast wooden, versatile , and disputatious...

The right of the people to keep and bear 20 mm Orlikens shall not be infringed….and Conning Tower ….? Meh … maybe it’s a good safe place to put the Loo …would Admiral Nelson have hidden behind 16” of armor …methinks not …!
