It took Britain a century to do what China did in 30 years. 800 million people were lifted out of poverty. Practically every economist recognises China's growth as phenomenal.

Agreed. There's actually another guy who talks about thr need for the West to stand up to China which may bring us closer to Cold War style tensions. He does a good analysis of the situation in Hong Kong and what it means for the possibility of a new Cold War, given the escalation with the US: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMm67LHxR7M&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=3&t=0s

If you're interested in YEMEN there's an interesting a video analysing the Yemen southern separatist crisis, it's impact on the PANDEMIC as well as a background explainer of Yemen's Civil War and US involvement in it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqpHV3xBCBE&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s

No. Armenia was the first to make it an official religion. Syria was still part of the pagan Roman Empire at that time, even if it did have a Christian population. And Ethiopia was the second Christian country, with Rome only being third.

This is China's fault. China really is getting aggressive and we see it with recent tensions with Taiwan. There’s actually a great analysis on the Taiwan-China conflict and the prospects of a Chinese invasion and Taiwanese independence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI0foMtF_oU&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=1&t=560s&ab_channel=MyTake

I'd like to see a video on the geopolitical impact of a disputed election in America and the violence that could follow, including the possibility of civil conflict. In fact i came across a video that explores the long and short term factors that could lead to CIVIL WAR in the United States: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeF61LRYSKk&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNEJi3ucY_PKP0-lHddrmi5x&index=2&t=0s&ab_channel=MyTake

@saswatrath609 How does Kirchnerism differ from social democracy or socialism and how does Menenism differ from neoliberalism/conservatism? Also, didn't Menem spectacularly fail as a president while the first Kirchner (tye husband) was broadly successful?
4
All corrupt dictators need to go including Lukashenko in BELARUS. He's now facing the most sustained protests Belarus has ever seen. For a great analysis on the origins and likely outcomes of the "Belarus Revolution" I would check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKBYYD8nx4M&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s

AMEN to that! They must also be prevented from being influenced by the rich and corporations. Came across a great video exploring the campaign finance system and how it undermines US democracy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-33WRnFkBFw&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNEJi3ucY_PKP0-lHddrmi5x&index=2&t=1s

Yeah Spain isn't the only ones having problems with its welfare state. The Dutch government just collapsed cuz of a massive welfare scandal as is explained clearly here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtC8wUqoRVc&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=1&ab_channel=MyTake

Essentially, rather than physical genocide, it is cultural genocide. Forced cultural assimilation. This video has a pretty good take on the situation with Uyghurs in China: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPLjmNK_-YM&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=10&t=61s

@alstonjacobs4934 Lol what government intervention created Facebook and Google oligopolies?

@JohnSmith-nz4bn Happy to help!

If you can't trust Josh yet there's another great detailed explanation of the situation in Hong Kong and what it means for the possibility of a new Cold War, given the escalation with the US: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMm67LHxR7M&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=3&t=0s

It's not about the level of government spending but whether government involvement disincentivises productivity. I take it most of Finland's government spending goes to education, healthcare and social insurance programmes which are stimulative to the economy. Argentina however has a web of regulations and taxes which make doing business very difficult. The two are not comparable.
4
The opposite is Myanmar where the military kicked out the politicians. There's actually a great analysis on the origins of the military coup in Myanmar and how things will play out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzKG8aNObKo&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=1&ab_channel=MyTake

Regarding his VP, Kamala Harris seems to be the epitome of "diversity in representation without policy substance" though ultimately she will not significantly impact the election. At least that's my takeaway from this analysis of Kamala Harris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5vPzjDjixM&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNEJi3ucY_PKP0-lHddrmi5x&index=2&t=0s

@ClintThrust-e8r True but Hong Kongers are not opposed to being part of China, they're opposed to China taking away what little rights and democracy they have left

I wanna hear Simon's take on Sweden's no lockdown policy. So Sweden has tried the strategy of herd immunity and no lockdown thinking it will work faster than lockdown and waiting for a vaccine. It's an interesting strategy but comes with it's own problems. Found a great nuanced analysis on the Swedish no lockdown approach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e92p_5we6qQ&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s

Kind of like the division between China and Taiwan. There’s now serious escalation between China and Taiwan. The Saudis are panicking! Low oil prices mean they can't finance their war in Yemen anymore. Southern separatists have now declared independence, further fracturing their coalition. There's a great video that gets into the situation in Yemen and Saudi involvement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqpHV3xBCBE&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFHRj0DwgGj-w0QKYK9s2Mb&index=2&t=0s

@pepega7015 Yeah Hungarian parliament passed a law allowing Orban to rule by decree. There's a great video that gets into Orbans slow accumulation of power in Hungary and how it's moving in an authoritarian direction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dtp57Om3mQ&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNFIQEXA9JXA5SczSRr6EETR&index=2

Apples to oranges of course but democracy really is atrophying in the US because of capture of the system by special interests.
3
Let's not forget how corruption infects the US political system. At the root of all these problems is the broken campaign finance system. As long as your government continues to be captured by corporate interests, nothing will change. Came across a great video exploring the campaign finance system and how it undermines US democracy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-33WRnFkBFw&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNEJi3ucY_PKP0-lHddrmi5x&index=2&t=1s

We live in unstable times. Just look at the violent situation in Ethiopia. Some say it could spill into open civil war. @emiliotab3485 Indeed it's not "law and order" if the police act outside the law. Just ask the US. There's a comprehensive analysis of police brutality in America with a good overview of the solutions to police brutality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUIT_tcpzmQ&list=PLRE6vgY7NmNEJi3ucY_PKP0-lHddrmi5x&index=2&t=0s

The Hong Kong people don't want China. They want democracy. That's why they voted for pro-democracy parties in overwhelming numbers.
