The US position on ATACMS makes no sense The go to weapons for the US is TLAM. B-52 , B-2s and F-15E Even if conflict broke out, ATACMS is at the bottom of the list if North Korea invaded South Korea, the ATACMS would give the US military ready fire capability The ATACMS carries 950 BLU-97Bs whereas the TLAM only carries 166 but the TLAM has vastly superiority range , targeting systems and can fired from ships and sub In addition to the PrSm. Both the USMC and Army TLAM capable launchers Its make more sense to give Ukraine 300-500 ATACMS variants while speeding the USMC and Army procurement of TLAMs and associated launders Fear of escalation is what Russia has been counting on from the start The West needs to stop that and give Ukraine what they need to end this conflict quickly Ukraine has 3 Patriot system, they need at 50 to form integrated air defence system (IADS) The promised F-16s needs to come with JASSM-As, AGM-65, PAVEWAYs, CBU-87s and Harpoons Additionally they need to equipped with the CART so MIG-29s can act as tankers to greatly extend their range The F-16s with Harpoon and JASSM will take the the Russian navy completely out of the picture while ATACMS knocks out Russian bases in Crimea The lost of both is more than enough to force Russian to rethink its choices

@maryanchabursky9148 Replacing tanks is not the issue Russia can scrap its obsolete tanks for the metal to make new ones but experience they cant make
1
@Tamarlane389 Israel has to demand nothing Iran fired off hundreds of drones and missiles so what would have been their excuse if some malfunction and crashed in some else's country in populated area
1
Of course they are afraid The US has over 1100 launchers and over 10,000 missiles have been produced Unlike , NASAMS, IRIS-T and SAMP-T which only exist in limited numbers The US could easily provide Ukraine with 150 units as well 500-600 missiles which would allow Ukraine to have an integrated air defence system (IADS) up and running in a matter of days While Patriot's protect major assets, the, NASAMS, IRIS-T and SAMP-T can be moved to the front lines to nix Russian aircraft and missiles providing ground forces with adequate protection and means to push deeper into Russian held territory. So yes Russia plenty afraid as Patriots would be one of many seismic shift in the war that would be very very bad for them The PAC-3 which allows up 16 missile per launcher is circa 2000, even if it was captured, Russia wouldnt learn anything
1
@scott4766 Nice try but Russia has already stated they are openly afraid of the patriot
1
@sharmana100 Right remember the Russians saying the same thing about javelin and himars

@wirasanjaya4517 The UK and US have been their since Houtis starting attacking shipping
1
@David-gy6fv No need for the Patriot to attack when Ukraine has plenty of other weapons to use Russia worry is that the patriots would effectively shutdown their air operations
1
Ukraine needs missiles first for the existing batteries, then US needs to send Ukraine at least 15 complete batteries sooner than later Ukraine needs an integrated air defence system (IADS) made up of Patriots, NASAMS and IRIS-T SLM If they had those in the right numbers, they would be able to negate Russia's airpower and missiles completely
1
Not really with the US providing max range ATACMS, Ukraine can do a lot of damage Tactically speaking, Ukraine should continue attacking S-300 and S-400s but more importantly , they should be working with the West to find a more effective mean of dealing with Russian EW sites Russian EW isnt a problem for the West as they have several airborne assets able to locate EW sites and transmit their launch for air or missile strikes if Ukraine had an airborne asset able to ELINT , SIGINT and COMINT They would locate Russian sites faster. Without EW, GPS aided munitions regain their accuracy and things for Russian forces get considerably worst
1
Thats not issue Ukraine only has very very small of aircraft able to use Storm Shadows They have over 70 western launchers able to use ATACMS Germany has 40 M270s in storage that Ukraine could make use of it much faster than trying to adapt the Taurus to an aircraft
1
@bekeneel Combined with Ukraine attacking S-300 and S-400 sites Russian has nothing to stop them
1
@Tamarlane389 They didnt ask for help
1
@toddl3328 Iran can fire off missiles but guess what Countries in the region will shoot them down because they dont want them accidentally coming down in their territory Israel will strike Tehran directly crossing through Syria and Iraq
1
@pjhgerlach An initial batch was sent with 300 mil package Ukraine has likely gotten more now
1
@NoobGamer-sc9lt They are the ATACMS max range now that will take some stress off ground forces but they need at least 12 F-16 operational to fully take the load of ground forces
1
Israel will pay Iran back with interest
1
@dfui. The Taurus can be if they intergrate to the F-16
1
No point Ukraine has over 70 launchers able to use the ATACMS while only small and very limited number of aircraft able to the Storm Shadow The Taurus wouldnt help One thing that would help Ukraine is Germany's Tornado ECR Preferably the Tornado ADV but IDS or ECR would massive help to Ukraine
1
Give them the MEADs as well

The West provided Ukraine with intel and possbily EW support , hence Russia's demand that the US and NATO stop supplying Ukraine which means the West definitely had a helping hand. Ukraine forces use TB2s as decoys. Since they didnt shoot down by CIWS or SHORAD aboard the ship, it sounds like some EW was definitely present preventing them from gaining a lock on the drones as well detecting the Neptune launch. On the Russia side The Slava class P-1000 are angled down so that in case of fire, the missiles can be ejected as the system designed for cold launch. Apparently, the Captain was killed so its suggested that bridge was hit as well as the 3rd row of the P-1000 With no one to eject the missiles or direct damage control, its likely that ship became too badly damage to save Now without the Moskva and its S-300F, the remaining frigates defensive weapons are all short range missiles mention for self defense This is means that Russia shipping in the area is officically screwed and they can no longer bring in supplies via ship That is major and very much needed strategic victory for the Ukraine because they have now cut Russia off from the sea
1
Wagner is PMC,, they are not equipped for full scale conflicts
1
Pretty sure Ukraine is only getting started
1
@Sin3xtreme Oh look Ukraine is letting Storm Shadow fly in Russia now
1
@Sin3xtreme Ukraine is letting missiles fly
1
@Sin3xtreme Yet Putin is crying
1
its called mutual assured destruction not deterrence Putin is willing to take the risk simply because Trump is a weakling and will do whatever he wants once he is on office

@carpenter3069 Being resusable is very much not a require Being survivable is

@Bessie Hillum That would be false There are 770 F-35s built and reviews have been anything but negative The Royal Norwegian Air Force in 2019 Norwegian air chief Brig. Gen. Tonje Skinnarland said in an exclusive interview with Defense News on Thursday. “That said, our experience operating the F-35 on slippery airfields is that it’s more safe and easier than with the F-16s,” she added. “With the stability of the [F-35] aircraft, it’s easier to take off and land on slippery airfields. … It’s performing extremely well. The performance of the aircraft — in general and in Norwegian conditions specifically — is more than expected. It’s an incredible capability. It performs extremely well in cold weather and the sensor capability and fusion is remarkable also when it comes to our challenging environment with the geography, topography and distance,” she said Israel has been flying all over the middle east wreaking havoc with its F-35i UK deployed its carrier with mix F-35s Non US customers have been very satifisted with their F-35s
1
Russia is looking for a way into Ukraine that doesnt allow the West to respond with military force. They know pound for pound, they are not equipped to fight NATO over Ukraine if they try to force the issue. Invading a sovereign nation will not sit well with the west
1
The point is that the Houthis were confident that their underground facilities were safe from attack Yet Israel struck one site and the US simultaneously struck 5 But worst for the Houthis is that B-2s came from Australia which despite their blusters, they cant do anything about if the B-2 came from a middle east base, the parrot would already be yapping Lastly, the USAF use of its strategic bombers is nightmareish because of the loads they carry

Too late

@aditya-ml6km No Ukraine does not have the logistics to support the Abrams The Abrams uses gas turbine engine which requires specialized training The Leopard 2 uses a diesel engine which does not Then it boils down to time The only tanks in Europe are the modernized M1A2 SEP which the US can't provide The older M1A1 are in the US X amount of days moving them from storage to the ship yards, another day or 2 for loading 11 days crossing the pod. Then unload and back to rail from UK to Poland at least between 6 to 8 weeks nominally just to get the M1 to Ukraine hands There are thousands of older model Leopard 2A4 in the EU that could be in Ukraine in as little as 7 days The Leopard 2 is just the right tank
1
Germany position is strange but he does have a point, the US does have a massive surplus but what he should be saying is for the US to give Leopard 2 countries M1A1s as replacements for their Leopard 2 given to Ukraine The US has 3000 M1A1/M1A2 in storage 500 for 500 would make sense
1
