Should it really matter? We are taking about culture - i.e. "how things are done here" from 200 years ago. In the same way that no-one takes issue with the Ottoman Empire, or indeed the invasion/colonisation of Britain over the last 2000 years, we do NOT need to apologise for what our great x 7 grandparents might have done. That was then, this is now.

@PortugalZeroworldcup what relevance is the size of the Empire? How are you defining size? Portugal had more black slaves than Britain. The Ottomans murdered more. Britain merely became a more successful empire than others - that's why there is greed to push for reparations. What relevance is it that we still have immigration from other countries you mention? We don't force them to come here.

@MelanieAF all the empires of the past won - but they were then defeated or just walked away. We sadly are giving it away, which makes our situation even more ridiculous.
