You should thank your government he either made a secret deal with the US or he got forced to accept.

@kızgın tosbağa Yeah what does he think, it's a bazaar, everything has it's price nothing is free.

@TheTrinquility Sweden and Finland lifted their arms embargo, refused all other demands Turkeys "terrorist list" won't be extradited and YPG won't be a terrorist organization. Everything is the same except Turkey can now buy Swedish and Finnish weapons and Sweden and Finland has promised to take Turkey's concerns "seriously" that's it. Weapons and a Promise that can mean anything.
1
@timknin NATO needs Turkey, not Erdogan. For all we know Erdogan will be a thing of the past after the upcoming election.
1
@birkangurel1327 Sweden and Finland gave Turkey the lift of the arms embargo and a promise to take Turkey's concerns "seriously" with no specific actions linked to the promise. Basically Erdogan let them in even though they refused all demands except the weapons. So it looks like Erdogan finally made a secret deal with another NATO member (perhaps the US) or he just realized he cannot get what he wants.

Nope Turkey is still Turkey the UN decision only affects diplomatic relations and official documents between nations it has nothing to do with the English language, just how Turkey should be addressed during diplomatic and official state affairs. The UN does not possess the power to change the English language.

Thanks but no thanks. Let the dictators play with the other dictators in a separate play pen and we play with our fellow democracies and allies. The west gets to set the rules for everyone else since they are the top dogs in the game. Perhaps in the future that will change eventually who knows. Maybe 10 years, maybe 100 maybe 200? Until then thanks but no thanks. The strong will conquer the weak, if you are the weak then you should stay quiet and be a good dog until you are strong enough to change things.

@placeswelive5388 he speaks for more than 70% of Swedes. Only one party that's really against NATO in Sweden and they were called The Communist party until their beloved USSR fell in the 90s. Guess why they hate NATO lol.

Swedish Politicians don't hold any power of the judiciary and cannot deny rights to groups of people based on ethnicity. Kurdish people like all individuals in Sweden have no fear of deportation as long as they stay within Swedish law and even if they don't you cannot deport people breaking every law it has to be very specific few laws that warrant deportation.

@kızgın tosbağa The Turkish parliament does whatever Erdogan tells them to do. We can pretend they have a mind of their own but truth is if Erdogan wants a VETO we will have a VETO if Erdogan wants it passed it will pass.
1
Yep aperantly the claim is this is what "occupied" countries do. I wonder how many tunnels and rockets Japan and Germany had and shot for all those decades they were ocuupied after ww2. Oh right, none. Turns out being civilized rewarded them with their freedom.

I will take a strong American arms industry any day over being ruled over by Russia. Thank you very much.
1
@dantepr1566 Erdogan is Erdogan he is pretty much a one man show in Turkey, I am sure if he wants to withdraw his signature he could do so within 5 minutes. The Turkish parliament is only there for show, Erdogan is the one deciding what they should and shouldn't do.

PYD and YPG are not labeled as terrorists by the US or EU - stop spreading lies and misinformation. Turkey wants everyone to label YPG and PYD as terrorists so they can justify their war on their Kurdish population. Alas the rest of the world can see through it.
1
@papiii_chulo Yeah about that how about we ask Turkey to change their constitution and label a few peaceful organizations terrorist organizations, also we can ask America to send over some F-16s in return for Turkey's Eu ascendancy. We have to respect their culture, everything is a negotiation.
1
In a perfect world Turkey would not oppress the Kurds and genocide Armenians but alas it's not the world we live in.

@mickusrobertson9534 Correction. Polls showed 78% of Finns supported joining NATO shortly before they became a member. Sweden had 68% that were positive to NATO membership. So yeah you are quite ignorant to claim it's just "leaders" that want this when this has popular support. Who are you to come and tell others in a different country what's good for them, you have no clue who they are, what they think and what considerations they make. The fact that you did not even know there's popular support for NATO in these countries shows how little you know about the Newest NATO members. Let people in other countries decide what their nation should and should not do and focus on your home country instead.

Can't be much worse than a dictatorship family business having power for 50 years...

European here, I'd very much prefer Trump. Even without the US Europe is more than enough to stop Russia. Russia cannot even take on Ukraine, imagine adding Germany, France or the UK to the equation?
