The problem with this sort of philosophy, which is the same problem as libertarianism is that it depends on people acting in good faith. It's naive.

No church (in the US) can be forded to marry anyone. You cannot be for gay rights and against gay marriage. You can be against marriage or government involvement in marriage but if you are against gay marriage specifically you are anti-gay rights.
5
I went to public schools and was never taught that capitalism is bad. What "state run schools" is he talking about?
5
+StarWarsomania It's always sweet when delusional people laugh at you. It's like a gift from a unicorn. You're such a kook.
5
So what?
5
7:54--One of the few times Dave has ever asked a guest if they have evidence for something.
5
This is why anecdotal evidence is pretty much worthless.
5
You're a kook.
5
I don't think that's actually true.
5
Joseph Lisacchi Just shut up.
5
Roberto Garza Nah, you're an ignorant liar who is trying to justify your bias with bullshit.
5
NotAZombie It's not equal. It's different.
5
***** You think his reasoning and presentation were sharp? I think he was impaired.
5
And conservatives hate progress because it means they have to change.
5
I think you'll find it hard to find large groups of atheists who share any belief or ideology other than "I don't believe in any god."
5
Atheism was really a small part of this.
4
What difference does it make? If you are opposed to gay marriage you are opposed to equal rights for gays. It doesn't matter if it's equivalent to something else or not, it's still a discriminatory stance.
4
adam rassat You have to be stupid not to know what Freedom of Speech is. It's not that you get to say whatever you want and everyone else has to shut up. It's also not that people can't call you names. Read the First Amendment it's about the GOVERNMENT stifling speech, not citizens. I can't believe you don't know this.
4
Sam, do you actually put Milo in the same category as Maher and Sommers as far as "getting out of people's personal lives and not othering and judging everybody in based on color, sex and religion" because I don't see that in him. I feel he got involved in Gamergate because he's anti-feminist not because he's so in favor of freedom.
4
But Trump's character is problematic. He's a thin skinned baby who never lets anything go and will call people names for the slightest slight. He also seems to just "retweet" everything without stopping to consider what they say and then act as though he didn't do it--or, in other words, he doesn't take responsibility for his actions. There's also the question of how he's been on both sides of almost every issue at one point or the other (sometimes within the same sentence). These things are all about his character and they are not things many of us want in a President.
4
Don't care about Brexit but Trump lost the popular vote and has been just as PC in his own way as any third wave feminist.
4
Seth A Why do I need to give you a rebuttal? But, as your last comment shows. You dismiss him because he's a Southerner. You do exactly what they criticize liberals of doing in this video. I don't need to rebut you because I don't feel that what you said actually has much merit. Sorry hon, but you not liking his accent isn't, as one of those libertarians always says, "not an argument."
4
Except that Larry Elder still wants the government to control a woman's body. Civil rights shouldn't be left up to the state. It's so great that he doesn't mind that the states took away the rights of gay people to get married--seeing as how it doesn't affect him.
4
Alexander Nevsky Didn't see any evidence of that in this video.
4
Dave, I like your interviews but I think that in your efforts to be ingratiating you have let this guest get away with several misleading statements, such as--Iraq did not attack us on 9-11 and they were not a threat to us when the Bush administration lied to us to get us to attack the wrong country. And that's just the most obvious. I think that while it's great to reach out we can't let conservatives get away with untruths any more than we can let regressive liberals get away with untruths.
4
+kosmoincalgary Maybe before you say these kind of things you should find out who she is and what has happened to her life.
4
German Realist The thing is, what Milo and many of his fanboys seem to think is that freedom of speech means you also don't get social repercussions. They think freedom of speech means you can harass people and that no one is supposed to be able to say anything about it. I think it's stupid for these groups to get people removed from speaking engagements--but they do have the right to protest. I think it would be better not to shout people down while they're speaking and it only gives Milo what he really wants--which is attention--but many of the people who claim they are for freedom of speech think that it ends once the person they agree with speaks.
4
Please. He's had Dinesh D'Souza, John McCain, Michael Steele and Sargon of Akkad on.
4
GamerGaters on Steam Wow. That was a lot of bullshit. You can be completely racist--what they actually say is that you don't have the power to discriminate. But I love how you use the same methods you claim to hate about liberals in order to silence people who question you. But what's also great is what a hypocrite you are.
4
"The left always measures success in terms of dollars"? And the right doesn't? It seems like some of these comments are very self serving. I don't think the left measures success in dollars any more than the right does--and possibly less.
4
Yeah, it's sort of like "everything sucks" but then he goes after people who are actually trying to do things. It's sort of a lazy, hipster douchebag type attitude.
4
One of the best guests you've ever had.
4
ad hominem: directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. That wasn't an ad hominem. An ad hominem would have been "he's a child molester therefore he knows nothing about this subject.
4
There was not actually a debate here and most of Prager's statements were pretty shaky. He doesn't seem to know what evolution actually says, he makes a lot of charges against the left that are just as true as the right but there was no one on this video to challenge him.
4
Roberto Garza It's not. Tell you what, you supply your credentials for deciding what accents are real and I'll care about what you say.
4
Roberto Garza You know that when someone says "calm down" they're really saying "I know I was wrong so I'm going to try to make you seem irrational." You are wrong. You don't know what you're talking about but you can't just stop trying to defend yourself. So really, just take your lick and walk away.
4
Adam Fitzpatrick Just last month conservatives were boycotting companies for not saying "Merry Christmas" enough. The reason you don't see it is because you agree with it.
4
singlecellorganism13 Yeah, his arguments about how without god there is no morality are also really sketchy. He's really not up to the level of Dave's best guests.
4
Does it keep you from hearing what she's saying?
4
Billy Bong People do frown on it. But there needs to be education. The severity does, and should matter.
4
NotAZombie You can call attention to it and show that it's wrong on it's own terms without trying to diminish female genital mutilation.
4
BUGZNTA No, poor white people get shoved under the bus because they vote against their own interests because they buy the fake idea put forth by the rich that the colored people are here to take their jobs.
4
Interesting that Steele thinks there's nothing wrong with this.
3
Yeah, calling someone gay is so funny. Great joke. You have a great sense of humor back in 1992.
3
Silencing climate scientists. Silencing Elizabeth Warren on the Senate Floor. Threatening reporters. Body slamming reporters when they ask about the healthcare plan. Those were just the things that sprang to mind. If I googled I'm sure I could find even more. If you were paying attention you wouldn't have had to ask.
3
adam rassat Great shifting the goal posts (actually, really clumsy shifting the goal posts), but you still have not acknowledged that freedom of speech is about government involvement. I realize that you don't know what you're talking about and are just completely ignorant of what the first amendment is but until you can acknowledge that I'm not going to engage with you because I'm not the jackass whisperer.
3
I think the damage of normalizing bigotry is a far more imminent danger at this moment in American history.
3
timpalmer1983 You're right. That Dylan Roof was a democrat is not an argument. And it really didn't take much to get Trumps people to attack.
3
I think some of the MRAs are their own worst enemies (just like many feminists are) there are a lot of really good issues that need to be addressed but the stridency of some of them turn you off to the movement as a whole.
3
Seth A Sure hon. Bless your heart.
