m0ZZaik Which is why I don't think it can work.

Vampyricon, I don't think it's "we" who are not teaching this. It's that in this country Religious conservatives have kept evolution out of schools or attempted to put creationism on the same level. It's also hard to teach people about something when they are getting false information from their parents and religious leaders about what evolution actually is and what processes. People still believe that it means one species will turn into or give birth to an entirely different species. That's not because "we" are not teaching it it's because others are putting out false information.
3
Vampyricon Unfortunately in this country religious people are far more powerful that academics, especially when it comes to issues of dealing with children. I agree that the education needs to be better but it's not just a matter of "teachers need to do better" it's that evolution, in their minds, challenges the basis of their religious beliefs. It's easy to shake a finger at people who actually know what evolution is but that is not the root of the problem.

+Mephistahpheles You have so completely missed the point that I'm kind of stunned you have the nerve to be tutting about bad educators. So, you think that creationism and evolution are on equal standing? You are a victim of what I am talking about. The fact is, in many schools, evolution is not allowed to be taught at all. There is actual evidence for evolution. There is overwhelming evidence in fact. There is no evidence for creationism. Creationism is not science and should not be taught in science classes. Evolution is not an opinion, it's not just this idea with nothing to back it up.
3
Arturo Luna And I think you are someone else who doesn't really know what the evidence for evolution is. You should also go out and learn what you're talking about before you start talking based on a few stories on the internet. The fact that you use a term like "neo-Darwinist" makes me question whether you know anything at all. In fact, I think it makes it pretty clear that you are coming at this as a creationist and that you don't understand what evolution is. In fact, you could just look at the writings of Mr. Coyne here.
3
cloudazer Science is bringing out the worst in people? How is this the fault of science and not the fault of people not knowing wtf they are condemning? And if you believe in creationism you are a creationist. This isn't my narrative--it's what the word means.
3
Alexander Nevsky Not in any substantive way. He also said a lot of demonstrably false things about both Republicans and Democrats and bascially strawmanned what they supposedly stand for.
3
Matthew Morton You say a lot of things that use a lot of words and don't mean anything. Of course athiests can be dogmatic--so what? That still doesn't mean there is any proof of the existence of any god and so believing in something without evidence doesn't make you crazy but it does mean you have an irrational belief. That you are projecting this idea of irrationality onto something that is simply stating that you don't believe in a god because there is no evidence is, once again, irrational.
3
I have always considered myself a feminist, but I have to admit I never knew about these sort of gender studies things--now I'm a little more picky about what I support. I still don't support the MRAs because I think they're not actually about men's rights but are more against feminism and I don't like the libertarians because they tend to go way too far into the extreme, but I am interested to hear what people like Sommers are saying. Luckily, we didn't have gender studies at my college--or I didn't have much to do with them, but the LGBT studies groups are just as crazy and make me fear for our movement as well. I find myself rejecting most philosophies of late. I think Humanitarianism comes closest to what I respect.

Did she have any sort of treatments? Hormones? Operations? Or was she just being a troll, because, really, what she did was just silly and not important.
3
+talsapps I just looked up the transgender wrestler story and you have completely misrepresented it. It is a transgender female to male who wanted to wrestle boys but was forced to wrestle girls. The reason it was controversial is that they think the hormones will give "him" an advantage. So, because he was a girl on his birth certificate he was forced to wrestle girls when he wanted to wrestle boys--which would not have given him an advantage. Did you not know the story or did you purposely misrepresent it?
3
Interesting, I find it very strange when I hear liberal gay men defending Islam against even actual incidents of anti-gay violence or statements.
3
How, in any way can Islam which suppresses the rights of women lead to feminism?
3
psychoh13 As far as the property taxes, that went with ownership. As far as the children--men don't pay for everything either and at that time period did not participate in raising them, and women had no rights to a child if she left her husband. As far as the draft--men would not have allowed women in the military in the first place and in the second place being drafted shouldn't be a prerequisite for voting. Now, why don't you just read a book on history and get some information outside of the MRA movement.
3
rich5562000 I know someone who lies on Youtube and says he knows people.
3
She seems much more like the feminists I knew and loved growing up. The ones I worked with clinic defense and things like that on.
3
alfred koenig Holy Crap! Not that there's anything wrong with that!
3
Abraham M. sorry, I misunderstood your comment. The thumbs up right now are almost 4 times the thumbs down.
3
Faint366 I will have to disagree with you there.
3
Faint366 Not the point, and if you go on a world-wide rather than US-centric basis totally false. I'm not going to get into it with you, I already said I shouldn't have included him in the list so I have backed off on my criticism of he who must not be mocked.
3
What is the Jew card? It seems like they were talking about Jews and Jewish issues. Is it like when racists complain about people using the race card?
3
Dave Morrison Or maybe it was because he never told his nephew about it or because those bigots didn't realize he was gay. You don't know.
3
Dave, how much of this stuff do you actually buy?
3
***** Really? Asking someone how much of something they agree with makes me an sjw. You are such a twat.
3
***** So is anyone who doesn't buy objectivism a sjw? You are actually just as bad as these sjws. You use the term "sjw" to shut down conversations you don't like.
3
Fearlessechoes73 Or, it could be that he's just not funny. Sarcasm is really one of the lazier forms of humor--but he seems pretty lazy.
3
Was he drunk during this interview?
3
They've been using the toilet of their choice for years and no one noticed.
3
She needs to have a good talk with John Idarola.
3
I'm surprised at the lack of knee-jerk anti-feminist posts. Well done so far. I'm sure it will change but it's nice for now.
3
Roberto Garza In other words, no you have no expertise. I can be dismissive of you because there is no reason to take you seriously. You are making a charge that isn't true and is actually verifiable. And his twang "cuts in and out"? Bullshit.
3
Roberto Garza Nah, you're just stupid and wrong and you've made claims that are just false. Sorry dude, you're either ignorant or a liar, but you might just be an ignorant liar, it seems likely. Go ahead and present you credentials in dialects though. That will be interesting to see.
3
Hey Dave, are you going to address right wing attacks on freedom of speech and the First Amendment at all? Seeing as how they are in power and are suppressing the press and speech they are more dangerous in the US than some college students.
3
Michael Burgendy You really think small children working in mines are doing it voluntarily? Are you really that naive?
3
Michael Burgendy History would prove you wrong. The problem with this philosophy is that it doesn't work in real life. It relies on people just believing what they say without actually looking at real life.
3
Michael Burgendy That's not a definition of capitalism. The benefit of the two parties doesn't come in to it. Also, with slave labor the owners and buyers benefited--the workers didn't. The real definition of capitalism is: An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. And the idea that this system automatically benefits everyone is incredibly naive.
3
Ulysses the courier "Wrong". There's a subjective idea. So, liberals boycott because a business is discriminating against a section of the population or, as in the case of Chik-fil-a donating money to organizations that are seeking to put in place laws where gay people will actually be killed in Africa, or that baker everyone brings up who wasn't tried because she refused to bake a cake but because she doxed the couple who had asked. Conservatives boycott because the company doesn't use the right magic words enough.
3
Adam Fitzpatrick What's the difference between a small government telling you what to do and a large government telling you what to do? Why should gay people have to have their marriage status change every time they cross the state line? So, in one state they have full rights in the next they don't even have hospital visitation rights? Sorry, that's just idiotic. The idea that states rights is some kind of magical, reasonable solution is just silly. We should all have equal rights. If the government is involved in marriage then it should be the same for the entire country not dependent on what your state legislature decided.
3
So, Freedom of Speech Warrior. Do you still think, as a woman has been sentenced for laughing at Jeff Sessions and Trump is talking about altering the First Amendment, do you still think the biggest threat to free speech is from the Left?
3
Rob Green I think he disagrees with quite a bit of what Dennis says but his style is that he doesn't say so, he also doesn't correct factual inaccuracies that his guests present which I think is a weakness of his style because it lets misinformation pass unchallenged.
3
Thank you. This is really interesting. As an American I didn't study this in school.
3
ColonelSandersLite It's not a happy occasion. We have a rage tweeter who is appointing every right wing extremist to his cabinet. That's a scary occasion.
3
ColonelSandersLite Or, maybe, unlike you, I'm not up your ass.
3
Interesting how many people here are triggered by even the mentioning of gun control. They aren't even willing to consider anything other than "give me all the guns I want with no restrictions at all".
3
You need to learn punctuation. I don't even know what you're trying to say.
3
Chicken Strangler Evolution is evolution. There is no difference between micro and macro. It's something creationists made up.
3
Interesting on this and the shorter videos--Gad really seems to trigger the anti-SJW crowd.
2
Certainly if you look at the Bible it has as much bad stuff as the Koran, but most Christians (at least in the US) don't actually follow it as radical Islamists do.
2
***** Yes. I did. Read Leviticus. Read Paul's letters. They're awful and have awful laws and treatments of people.
2
***** The reason Christians aren't as bad as Muslims is because they DON'T do what the Bible tells them.
