  3. In my country whenever a child behaves badly in class, teacher don't send him to detention, they send him "outside"... You know, to the garden or the baskeyball court, nature for short. I'm not saying it is perfect, but it seems to work.

And I loved the "we haven't had any terrorrist attacks because we're working so well", it's like saying "we're not having any elephant stapees cuz we're working so well" (just forget the fact we're not in Africa)... Furthermore, he says he prevented attacks on several places, just never in the US... Also, the fact that it "will take good care and safely deal with any information you find that concerns my privacy", does not change the fact that you have already violated it... And even his idea: "Look at tha data"? You mean the one you've been keeping from everyone all these years... Show it to us! I believe the NSA and other such agencies are useful, and we can't just end them because of "bad managment". But man, they definitelly need to have better guidelines, or better PR.

  17. This is a great idea, and it has been tried before on other places with similar results. The problem, like she said, is that the people in power don't want to make decision on base on people's choice, but on their party/personal gain. Also, any site or internet platform can be hacked (has the NSA proved), so such an app can also be manipulated by big corporations to favor what they want done or not done. I believe this is the way to go, but we need to have a more profound change in the goverment system, and on how we choose the people inside that system, to make it work.

  20. Super. I can totally relate to it. However, I would like to see a study, or Ttalk, about agression and fight (for survival) in relation to depression... I believe it is the lack, or repression, of these that sometimes tend to "down" people.

  31. The great thing for 3D printing (and some can even print colors too), for me, is the execution of models. Image the latest Transformers movie or Destiny videogame, you put the BluRay in your computer and it comes with a code/app to 3dprint your favorite robot, statue or action figure. Image someone doing a awesome model of a mecha, or a known actor, or even one of the classics of the great renaisance sculptures, puting it online and you can print it at home. No more packages, customs, out of stock, out of sale, lost in mail situations... The future is indeed great.

  35. I'm sorry but I cannot listen to more of this BS...some time ago I told a good friend of mine what I felt about her and we haven't spoken since. Since high-school to my adulthood I have follow this 'creed' this woman (and everyone) talks about... to "open up" and over the years I have only lost and lost. It's very easy to tell other to do it until you are the one who has to listen and have your world turned upside down. No one wants to be on the receiving end of that (or any such hard) conversation... now, I just follow the "status quo".

She didn't explain that most of the Tazmanian Devils share a recent common ancestor (like a grand-grand father...) so their genetics are "familiar" to one another, and THAT is also a reason why it's spreading so fast. A second "family" that exist on the island doesn't seem to be affected. Also, the appearance of this cancer is rather peculiar because it started in human populated areas (were there are fewer animals) and then migrated to where there are the big colonies. -Saw it on Discovery Ch.

  47. We become so connected that we "bonded" (not to real people) but to what people want, or expect from us, be it: a comment, a reply, a like, a view or something else. But those bonds can become shackles that we can't get away from. All technology has a "off" switch for something, and we better know how to use it so we can find time for ourselves.

  48. Consciouness is the building of a model of the world inside our heads. I don't need to look at the chair I'm sitting, or look at the street outside, or etc, to know it's there because my "model" tells me it's there. In that sense, all sential beeings have a model. More or less elaborate depending on how much senses the creature has (ex. animals have senses like us, were plant sense only temperature, gravity, sun-light,etc). This is a profound talk, but it need some pictures or infography, because it is to difficult to follow without visual aid.

  49. Human interaction will always be needed in classrooms, for this is the way we teach our young to live in society. But this is awesome! Almost makes me wanna go back to school... Almost. ;)
