Xinjiang is everything Pakistan thinks is happening in Kashmir.

As a South Indian, I love the coverage of NE. I want to understand the region better. Curiosity for other regions, mutual respect and empathy is needed for all regions to integrate our country.

They proved Ambedkar and Savarkar right. They called for reinforcements from Middle East. What kind of precedence does this set?
157
When he talks, they run. What kind of opposition is this?
154
As a native Kannadiga, Hindutva is a part of society like never before. Out larger society has started producing Hindutva oriented lawyers, academicians and now politicians enmasse. It's now BJP's to lose.
133
Shekhar missed the most important point, the disproportionate fiscal infusion by the center.

If socio politics and economics are the root cause, the world should be terrified of the Tibetians. 🤔

Disagree, they keep working. Even if they fail, they have market ready skills. IAS/govt job crowd is a different story. The amount of no work exp 30 yos is astounding.
84
Imagine coming across an economist and asking him questions expected from a podcast host. The calibre of this youth leader is astounding.
83
BJP has had unmitigated success in incorporation of people across the country. Take my state Karnataka for an example, while there was representation under Congress, at no point were Kannadigas represented to the degree we are currently. This will happen with NE too. Perhaps in a decade.
71
Special mention: Kudos for the effort put in for pronunciation. We need to inculcate this as a habit irrespective of state. Its not Kannad nor is it Beehaar. Respect begets respect.
62
I'd rather have him create a corpus of IFS officers who build on his work. One person cannot run the show.

@arthuravalon914 in this case they represent range of political opinions. Like saying East to West. Do work on comprehension. You lack it.
54
Zubair and Pratik Sinha did not win it? What a shocker. 😂
52
Kashi Mathura baki hai
45
The problem with France is that they allowed Hindutva to enter. 😂
43
Corona does not spread here due to secularism.
42
Pappu of his times. Defended by the establishment media

I remember being called a Sanghi for talking about Punjabi/Sikh gangs in Canada. Good now it's pretty secular to talk about it. Look up the movie Beeba boys. You will be surprised how deep it goes and how horrible it has gotten that SMW compared himself to Tupac Shakur unironically.

Aside from the bjp-opposition partisanship, this will remain an issue with Indian politics for the foreseeable future. Parties are creating localised leadership or pick up people who offer electoral predictably and social control for the cost of corruption, immunity to prosecution and access to power. If you eliminated Congress and BJP as parties, people like this would still find power.

In Mudi ze's new post constitutional India, minorities cannot even take an auto without being subject to Islamophobia. Constitution is rolling in its grave to Adele's "rolling in the deep". Ras'gul Bazaz is not my automaker. Mudi ze is not my prejident. 😡 (Update: I did some research and found the same Bazaz company makes the popular bike, Pulzar (It's should be renamed "communal polarizer". Turns out I have one and in protest I burnt my own bike. People in my apartment started shouting at me, calling me Irresponsible, but I reminded them this is how democracy dies, today it's my Pulzar, tomorrow it can be theirs. My apartment is so sanghi, they filed a police case against me.) 😡

The meme machine keeps delivering.
35
Congress needs to die and leaders like Scindia, Tharoor, Rajeev Gowda and others should come to the fore with a national platform rather than regional ones.
34
He speaks in bass. 😂
34
Who pays for it?
33
Agree but the require cooperation from the judiciary and states on it.

Ideal solution was for the Muslim community to hand over the sites, Hindus would have in turn restored the mosque. Since there is no attempt for reconciliation from the aggressor, we will see more court cases, fights and takeovers. This is not a recommendation, its an observation.

When people in the non-left and liberals bring up Indonesia as a shining example of "Hindu roots"(Garuda airlines being the favourite) and "Liberal Islam", I end up enquiring the last time they updated themselves. It will drive home some harsh truths. Read my thread in the replies to this comment for some insights I found.

Someone issuing a call for violence can use the same argument. "How can I organise a riot, when I don't have friends 😢"

It's also important to mention this puritan form of federalism is unique to USA due to their history of conquest. It was kept that way to make sure local white colonisers got to keep their unique social orthodoxy in power. This is why they vote for their governors, have their own supreme court and own legal code.

@_kartik_chauhan most people don't realise that BJP isn't Janasangh. It's the part of the old big-camp Congress that disagreed from within, formed the Janata party, failed at it and then the working parts of it formed the current BJP. It faced selection pressure from the real world and evolved. It's not in power because it's leaders were born in the right families. Being a dynast in BJP does not guarantee anything.

Time has come to understand that commercial crops are a legacy of colonialism. Behind our water wars be it Kaveri or Krishna is a incessant need to grow sugarcane(specifically), rice, wheat in regions where the water cannot be sustained. Going back to zero budget farming is only step one. Step two is innovation in our own conditions with technology and farming methodologies. We cannot copy what Western countries did for their own agriculture as they are cold countries with access to huge lands with combine farming, massive reserves of water, monoculture farms and industrial production. We cannot go in their direction as we operate on small farms with no space for combine harvesters to manoeuvre, let alone operate. Green revolution was a tactic for the short term, not a strategy for the long run.

While I tried to listen to this video with interest and empathy to understand how UP politics works, my gut felt sick by the minute on the kind of politics we are discussing instead of things like industrial history, social impact of policy, economics, art, sport and science. It's good that Yogi seems to be closing the chapter on this kind of feudal mafioso politics but I hope people in UP promise themselves and rest of the nation that never again shall these kinds of stories characterize them or their politics.

@fuzzyblue74 yes it was ok. That is why we are not begging the IMF for a bailout.

Kerala lives in space age. Thanks to the focus on education, rationality and scientific temper, Keralites don't move to Bengaluru for education, Coimbatore for hospitals and Gulf for jobs. Instead everyone wants to move to Kerala for its world class Universities, hospitals and companies.
27
He believes in secularism and constitution insofar as it allows separate personal laws. Hypocritical that his brother still has a career in politics. His brother's speech and Zakir Naik were the reason Hindus started looking into the ideology.
27
@MathewJohn-gj5xn could you explain why RR wrote the paper "Make in India, Make for India" and now walks back on the recommendations without retracting his white paper?
27
Name one slaver family or institution built from the money that survives in India today.

There will be people who actually believe this garbage, so a point by point rebuttal is in order. 1. Mughals named Hindustan so we should be proud of them: they named the region they controlled in India to an exonym(name called by outsiders). Should my progeny let alone future co religionists be proud of me if i rename India to Hodu, if I convert to Judaism? 🤦 2. Mughals gave India its current borders: Bharat went beyond that definition before and till today appeals to the spirit within us. Hindustan was transient, so is India but not Bharat. 3. War was between the nation of India under the Mughals and the nation of Assam under Ahoms: this is the fault of civics education in our country which prioritises the "nation state" model(confluence of culture, language and genetics) as the only qualifier for what a nation is. Kingdoms are linked to state entities and made out to be a nation state. We reject the concept of nation state by our philosophy and historical base. We have always been a country with multiple kingdoms.

I swear Salim is going to be an ever-present character in the future political fiction. Like an inept version of Vaerys or Littlefinger.
25
That offer lapses as far as I am concerned. All of them will be reclaimed.
24
Kanisetty is at it again. These are examples of Indians providing accomodation to other faiths, a one sided love affair. We are not projecting our "current anxiety" into the past, we are learning from our history that there are two faiths that largely refused to accomodate us in moments where our numbers or our politics were not strong enough. The politics of today isnt centralisation, its consolidation.
24
@Vizorfam that is anachronistic, hindutva is a reaction to Islamism. Also if hindutva is the root why is Islamism present outside of India?
24
Cant wait for someone to make a negative spin on this.😂
23
@MegaLeoben J&K has been a tax deficit state since independence.
23
And he has DK Shi as party president 🤣😂
23
"Endians are jelos" "Go read reeyal history" "Mushrik can never do this, we have Islam"
23
The problem seems to be that each political and social side has an exclusive definition of interfaith marriage. Praveen Swamy is sticking exclusively to completely consensual marriages. Hindutva views every marriage as forced or coerced. Feminists see this as purely non-communitarian. Everyone seems to ignore that the other side has merit and a case. The term love jihad was coined in Kerala by Christians not Hindutva. The state has ISIS brides of different religions to back it up.

@patmclaughlin107 over time I have realised, no region of the country gets good coverage. How many people in South India would know the names of CMs of UT, HP or even RJ off the cuff? In any country, it is basically 6-7 cities that dominate the news cycle because there is a constraint on how much you can follow. In India's case, it used to be only Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi. The exclusion of Chennai is the reason for the cultural meme of "South is underrepresented". TN politics and society is very insular and they don't project influence even to the neighbouring states while the other three cities historically exercised regional influence. Chennai's loss is Bengaluru's gain. KA politics is going national with the BJP/Hindutva success in the state, Hijab controversy, Bengaluru floods and the response, IT success stories and people like Vikram Sampath significantly represented in the news cycle In 5-6 years this narrative is no longer going to be true.
23
Sg is right about this though. They are not household brands in the global north.
