  1. What I really dislike in all of this from the UK point of view is the way our leaders here have adopted this childish rhetoric towards Russia and Putin. I know one thing if they really think he is mad, demented, whatever else they say, then a measure of respect towards this superpower might be prudent. Ramping up this public rhetoric only lowers the bar for those words to be turned into mistakes of action. We must always leave the door open for diplomacy. We need to be able to negotiate from a position of quiet strength.

  2. I wish his brother Christopher was still alive. He would have had amazing things to say on this. Peter is a good thinker but Christopher was a powerhouse.

  3.  @thecrusader4422  indeed. I've never understood why we allow in people from these countries. We are told those coming are refugees from the regimes they are fleeing from. That might well be sometimes true. But I suspect when push comes to shove they will support their home countries aims, even the moderately well integrated. We have to stop importing the 3rd world and creating a dangerous 5th column here.

  6. The thing about women in the front line roles is they get captured and placed front and centre of any propaganda. The various Islamic gangs always want to get their hands on the female fighters.

  7. I agree there is so much nuance here that we need to be careful how our leaders publically speak on the calamity.

  8.  @laughingalien  absolutely, they will take a while to begin even touching the sides of this however. They come with a cost to ourselves also.
