  1. My late dad lost both his legs above the knee through hospital infections. He was 69 at the time . This hero has it done at such a young age. Tho the artificial limbs are so much better now. Back then dad was confined to a wheelchair till the end. Hopefully phantom pain treatment has improved too. All the best luck in the world to the happy couple. If anyone deserves it. They do.

But at the same time it would be nice if all those nations that have so benefitted from the US contribution to global security - expressed some gratitude." Well i reckon losing many of our brave military personnel in standing by the USA in iraq after 9/11 and then the 20 year war on terror after is showing more than enough gratitude. Ukraine and my country the UK were right there for them back then and in the 20 years after. How about trump and maga returning the favour. They wouldnt lose any people this time either. How people can vote for someone who disrespects the sacrifice made by americas allies in its darkest time is incredibly sad and dispiriting. As for europe relying on US for its defence. Thats because the US has the biggest military and largest amament manufacturing in the world. The US probably makes billons out of it. Do agree with your assessment of what europe should do in the future tho. Perhaps we should manufacture and sell our own military equipment here. More well paid jobs in europe and so less in the US. Nice one trump/maga. Keep shooting yourself in the foot. Anyways, looking to the future, everythings going to depend on what happens regarding NATO.

  7. I agree. If the polls are showing that trump is winning by a distance again then biden really needs to step down. The polls only recently started to show him drawing level with trump too. If this is as disastrous as some are saying then he, or whoever is calling the shots for him, really needs to put their country and democracy first. Democracy is way more important than party politics. Trump is way more a threat to our democratic freedoms now than he was in 2016.

  9. What plan does ukraine, the EU and all other civilised people have? Easy. First and foremost, support a fellow democratic nation that has been invaded for imperialistic purposes. Along with supporting its people, including civilians, that are been deliberately targetted and killed. Its called civilised behaviour. You, trump and maga ought to try it sometime. Secondly, as jake says. Support ukraines military until they force putin into a negotiation which includes ukraines entry into NATO. As that is the only way you will ever prevent putin renaging on any peace deal just as he did with the minsk 2014 peace deal.

It was done to help them fight against another UN condemned invasion of a sovereign state by ussr/russia. Only a much earlier cold war version. Brezhnevs imperial communist version and 50 years later a politically polar opposite in putins fascist/nationalist version. So if the US/west is backing the UN on both occasions then i see nothing hypocritical in what jake spoke at all.

He didnt know at the time that it was a failed attempt to bring down one of a hundred or so "war crime" missiles that were raining down on his country and people. Plenty of western media were reporting "article 5" news at that time as well.

  17. Could someone from the states please explain to me why an old man with significant signs of dementia is still standing for the democratic party in the forthcoming election? The vast majority of non political voters are never going to vote for a candidate in his condition. Polling is already showing a massive landslide for trump so why doesnt the democrats change their leader? Is it a rule for a standing POTUS to stand again or is it because he is too stubborn to stand down for someone else?

  18. He was there due to the "war on terror" after islamic fundamentalist groups being hosted in certain middle eastern countries declared a terror war on western civilisation after 9/11. That war lasted 20 years. Hopefully now with no major terror attacks on the west since afghan that war has been won. Tho the arab spring i guess has a lot to do with the syrian situation as well as ISIS setting up camp in there as well..

  22. NATO expansion is one of 3 excuses that putin uses to justify his special military disaster. The others being ukranian nazis and the donbass genocide during the 8 years after minsk 2014. If there was a genocide on ethnic russians in the donbass region occuting during those 8 years after minsk how come the UN monitors on the frontline those 8 years never noticed it? As for NATO expansion, i prefer to call it democracy expansion as thats one of the requirements to join. Maybe the corrupt capitalist authoritarian state that putin has built is more their style? As for the real reason. Imperialism. Plain and simple. To reunite the "greater russians", the "belorussians" and their so called "little russians" of ukraine back together again into his so named "greater russian world" empire that would once again rival the west. Just as ex kgb putins beloved ussr soviet empire used to do. The russians have even admitted it themselves since.   25. Actually there have been two elections in ukraine since maidan/revolution of dignity. Petro poroshenko won the first in a snap election on 25th may 2014 followed 5 years later in 2019 by zelensky defeating poroshenko in a run off. Poroshenkos party leans more to the left and zelensky is more centrish politically.

And the extremes are always the ones who shout the loudest and lobby the hardest. Here in the UK we got multiple parties, so all the extremes get their own parties and the overwhelmingly moderate majority can then ignore them come voting time.

With all the oblasts voting in favour including the donbas regions and crimea. In 2013 putin puppet yanukovych scrapped a potential union with the EU for one with the very country they voted to leave in 1991.. Whilst also jailing his main political opponent yulia tymoshenko.. In 2004 , another maidan had previously occured, with an orange revolution, against that same elected puppet yanukovych. Tho this time for "voting corruption", which was later proved true, as his "poisoned" opponent won the rerun comfortably.. Maidan began peacefully at first but then violence was used againt protestors and it escalated until yanukovych ordered snipers to shoot unarmed protestors. 120 died and thousands were injured. No way could he survive that bloodbath. Evidence was later found in his abandoned palace of voting corruption casting doubt on his earlier close election win....... .Were the americans and john mccain involved back in 2004 as well?...   42. What? According to wiki. As of 25 May 2024, the Electoral Commission showed the number of registered political parties in Great Britain and Northern Ireland as 393. We have parties representing the far left, the left, the centre, the right and the far right. We also have the greens on environmental issues if you want to vote on that. What more do you want? You can even set up your own party if your that way inclined. Be careful what you wish for when your bemoaning democracy. The alternatives are far worse.

It seems swiss airspace was regularly violated by both sides during the war. The swiss, german and allied airforces all downing each others planes at various times.The swiss were also pressured by germany to have night time blackouts to confuse allied navigation as the allied bombers were using nuetral swiss airspace to avoid german ground anti air fire. As a lot of german industry was situated close to the swiss border. Also some historians claim the swiss bombings were made to give warning to switzerland to stop aiding germanys industrial effort. Tho maybe not as allied pilots were prosecuted and reparations were paid to switzerland as indeed germany did with ireland.

If he goes then i believe that there will be a change of sorts as there is nobody near as powerful as him to take over. The oligarchs that support and fear him at the moment will want to return to more affluent pursuits than carry on attempting to restore an empire.
