only in a limited way. Because many web sites that you visit have fb/meta as a "partner" site or another excuse to share your data with big techs. The only way is direct ban fb/meta from your side. You can choose the way you can do this, depending on your infrastructure or preferences. It can be router settings, firewall block list, ad block, special extension in your browser, secure DNS with social network blocking - many DNS services offer this now ) You can choose whatever suits you well or even get them all )
2
I think that you miss the concept of VM state saving. By default you can either shut down, or save state. But you can also revert to the last system saved state which can be... fresh installation, or just space allocation. So if you configure your VM the right way, this should work
2
here I would suggest that the term "captured" lead us to an easy and straightforward way to withstand it. Simply add fb/meta to the block list. Regardless how you do it, this might be your router, your firewall, your browser, if you would be happy with that. An easy way might be installing "Portmaster", it has a checkbox to add fb/meta to a block list ) it's simple and it works )
2
I wouldn't recommend using keyboard when banking or dealing with particularly sensitive information. Touchscreen or mouse
2
if you mention this, it's worth to say the protection against digital fingerprinting. It's using less scripts (blocking them), apply strict rules in browsers (especially good Librewolf, Mullvad) or ultimately using special tool like TOR browser for this. TOR is like 2 in 1, it's a good private browser and TOR network to make it difficult to watch the network traffic
2
if you want to wipe it out completely then you need a firewall. Add fb/meta ip or names to a block list. Another great option is configuring secure DNS. Many offer an option to block (actually not to resolve) social networks. Partial solution might be something like adding blocking in your browser. So look into your browser options or extensions, there is a bunch of good filtering extensions like u6lock, noscript, ad blockers etc. You might want to get all of them, they don't push each other, rather help each other
1
@BorisaComputers no problem, I don't ask you to agree with me. I just put my arguments why it's better not to do like you said
1
disabling network will be the best. If you need network, see the description of these modes and pick up the one you need. I prefer NAT mode
1
@GTSongwriter welcome to the party

if something bad starts to happen, adding or changing hardware is a no-no. Removing might be helpful. Windows starts or not? not even in safe mode? if your recovery partition is somehow broken or doesn't work, then you need a rescue flash. Make it on another computer. Or ask someone to help and make it for you. Your tech savvy neighbors, friends. Load with flash and try to recover with saving the user files. If not available then you need first to decide what to do with your data. Something useful or just format the drive? This is no turn back decision, so consider carefully about the data
1
some questions under this video raise another one big question: do people really care so much about security or they rather become a bit paranoid ?
1
if you are so attached to np++, get a bottles or wine or any other emulator. I use wine to run Total commander in linux, cause I don't find double commander or any similar app as good as total commander
1
@BillAnt they could be tracked, but it's another layer of defense. In many cases you can move, zoom your keyboard, make some "fake" clicks and so on. This significantly complicates any readout, even if you have some keyboard/mouse tracking software. Unless of course your system is completely compromised, but then any efforts would be in vain. Another reason not to use keyboard is they send a quite strong electromagnetic wave to the outer space, which can be read out with certain equipment
1
virtual box will work. The question is will win7 work in a right way. It's EOL product
1
you mean in this video? timestamp?
1
Pros: Debian-based native hypervisor. Runs fast and smooth. Cons: you need to have certain sysadmin skills to make it run. You cannot install it just like VirtualBox in your windows. It's quite the opposite, first install and configure Proxmox, then add your OS images
1
cr4p. yt censorship
1
i just want to say about "wlne"
1
not about 4lco|-|oi, about software emulator
1
ok google?
1
@Chris-op7yt it won't work as fast as you would like it to be. I haven't used Proxmox yet, but I trust people who say it's a good tool
1
this web site doesn't seem to make a really deep fingerprint analysis. I would recommend using browserleaks. It might be not that intuitive from beginnging, but it has a bunch of tests
1
before you do this, make sure that you learned well what is Streisand effect
1
@utube7917 how can you possibly know that? Do you have understanding that nobody will go crazy just because they have some contradictory info? The reality is that they collect your digital fingerprints, and your cookies help them to identify that it is you again. Regardless that you changed your VPN location or whatever else you tried to do
1
@utube7917 I understand clearly your message, but you just don't listen to my argue. Everything will be collected. The more fake or real information you send, the larger will be the collection. Next time you log in with another device, this information will be collected as well. Your geolocation, your OS, your browser, other fingerprints etc. You just need to understand that the real info collected in this process is not your fake photo, but rather your digital fingerprints and your cookies
1
@tacticalcenter8658 trust is a personal choice. I may rather trust FOSS VirtualBox, than trusting your comments
1
make your own phone company and don't track yourself ) easy
1
this software emulated type of VM is not responsible for connection to internet. You need to configure your private/secure connection with your VPN in case you use it. Otherwise you will be seen from outside according to your ISP and router settings
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 one more try ) fb is a very intrusive company. you may encounter it when you least expect ) they will get your fingerprints and cookies )
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 whenever you see suggestion from some website to log in with your fb/goole or other social network account that's it, they got you )
1
it's more like a system administrator skills. yeah we have to learn something to protect our privacy and security. Neither Zuck nor Gates will care about it much
1
if this is just about privacy, not about privacy+security+testing, then these days it's easier to use additionally installed librewolf/mullvad/tor, depending on the privacy level you need. In everyday life most people would be content with firefox/brave or similar browser with ad blocker + "noscript" extension
1
yeah, many WiFi adapters have proprietary soft. You can install it separately after installing Linux, or just try some distribution that already have 3rd party proprietary soft, like Ubuntu. When you use VirtualBox or any other type 2 hosted hypervisor, you don't have to configure much, so it should work smoothly, if you already configured it in your host OS
1
@tacticalcenter8658 no, it's not THAT bad ) because if you find it's that bad, then first thing you do is stop using windows and migrate to linux, bsd or whatever you consider your safe environment ) for normal user it's quite OK, and it allows you to make some simple tasks like testing, running some isolated apps etc and Xen still doesn't run for Windows )
1
Terry, you miss one more important function of VM, that the image can not only be saved, saved incrementally etc , but also reverted to the last saved state. Good if you need to test something or use internet session without any change on your pc
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 I'm not a big fan to read a comment which looks rather like a manual. And I try to be concise, and express my opinion. If you don't like that style you don't have to read or respond my comments. Now back to topic ) You don't have to use all the hardware/software the way which they were designed. If you find some feature that suit you well then why not to use it? I see a point of using some OS in VM in "revert back" mode. Just like I described before, it's an easy way to test or use internet. It also starts quick without need to restart your PC. So if you don't have a spare computer with a separate linux installed, why not?
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 if you are such in expert in this topic, how possibly could you forgot to mention about reverting the last saved state? well you might be right that if government will get access to your pc then they might restore your data and you will be busted, but do we really discuss this, and not privacy and security? who's changing the topic then? or looking for an excuse?
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 heh you're not attentive enough ) I said about your comments which sometimes look like manuals I didn't say about manuals. I actually like reading sources, manuals, documents, manuscripts, specification etc ) You don't pretend that you write here manuals, don't you? It would be too egoistic ) You can sure give any advises that you like, but I don't have to follow them, so I will answer or won't do that according to my own desire have a good day too
1
my comments are much shorter than yours, and you still wasn't able to read them carefully enough. And you talk that other people are not attentive ) narcissism?
1
oh come on. It's not THAT bad and Xen doesn't work for Windows
1
certainly it will
1
or just install a few privacy/security tools and make browsing great again )
1
@uk7769 I don't offer you to go from one proprietary cr4p to another. There are many good useful FOSS. Even for windows. So if you are not ready to admit the WORD OF LINUX, you can start doing some small good deals by moving AWAY from proprietary money-oriented software. Zucenberg will tease you, but ignore him by installing secure DNS. Get Portmaster to regain control of your words ports. Install free AD blocker to go directly to your DESTINY
1
might be, but I prefer to ban fb/meta completely. It can be done in a many ways, in router configuration, blocking by firewall, blocking by secure DNS resolver, or adding an ad/block list, or installing browser extensions
1
regardless of your point of view, Portmaster from Safing is a good firewall ) with many useful options
1
"man" said it should not be disclosed, it's a unique randomly generated identifier used in a local machine. Some problems may encounter if system is cloned, but this problem seems to be solved
1
that looks like a good choice! haven't used it yet though, I don't use VM that much
1
so you can go shopping and get a new pc. Even if you are glad with your current one. high chance that you also pay for one more windows
1
in fact, an average user will hardly notice any "spyware". It's less privacy oriented, to be more precise. A huge leap in direction of privacy if compared to windows though ) Less privacy comes with some advantage, like Ubuntu is very good for updates, security patches. It's most likely that if some vulnerability will be found, it first will be patched in Ubuntu. And finally linux is configurable. If you don't like snap , you can remove it from completely
1
yeah the Matrix rules the World
