I would also argue that the PK GPMG also qualifies as an AK derivative (if the Yugoslavian and Romanian sniper rifles qualify). And while the AR also had belt fed variants (in both 7.62x51mm and 5.56x45mm), I'm not aware of any of them that ended up in any serious service (i think it may even be possible that a plurality, if not majority, of rounds fired through the belt fed AR10 variants may have been during 1950s and 1960s promotional videos.) And if you accept the validity of a PK as part of the "AK developmental lineage", the Kalashnikov wins the argument, hands down, as every single AK variation role had major military service (and most still do).
