Well, if she's required to stick to the Atlantic slave trad, she should have asked who financed the whole thing... ;-)

@CArchivist " impact of the Trans-Atlantic trade on the wealth " If that's so important, why can't you say who financed and benefited from it? " whataboutism " It's called context. While slavery was illegal in Britain, it was not illegal or uncommon worldwide. British ships could legally buy slaves outside of Britain, because there were lots of well established slave markets already in existence. Finally they got fed up with it and started persecuting slavery wherever they could, didn't they? So it ended the trade, because British navy was so strong.

@eze8970 " It was effectively sanctioned by Western Christians as the Bible had slaves in it " No, it was not. Christianity ended slavery in Europe, because of the teachings of Christ. " embarrassment at the time (still is) for the Catholic Religion [...] raids " You are blaming the victims. Show me a teaching of Christ which condones that. BTW - Raids were based on geographic proximity. In the Black Sea slave trade the Orthodox Christians were the primary victims. The Western heretics were simply too far away from the markets. " certain Italian City States [...] they put profit before religion " Check who actually done it. Get nosy about this issue, if you catch my drift.
