The Wilde Sau missions were ready anky successful in the summer months, but come the autumn losses mounted, many of the losses were due to landing accidents but an equal number were due to pilots becoming lost and bailing out (they didn't have the electric navigation equipment that standard night fighters were fitted with, nor did they have someone trained in the art of celestial navigation). Those that did find an airbase to land at didn't always land back at their home baes which meant the day fighter unit had to spend time retrieving their aircraft. The unit was disbanded after less than a year.

  9. Just because the report says a unit had performed well it doesn't necessarily mean that it was directly involved in combat. Without further information we can't assume why they performed well.

  12.  @pavliksin123  whilst the Bf109 had been in service for around 18 months and had been used in combat over Spain, I agree that Getnany wasn't ready either (they weren't really ready in 1939), which is why I think it would have been a repeat of 1914.

  17.  @TheImperatorKnight  no it is a private business being a limited liability company which allows it some of the tax benefits of a sole-trader or partnership and the limited liability of a corporation. It does not matter if there is a single owner of the business or a thousand (just bezyse shares are publicly traded doesn't cha ge a thing). It is by law a private business (as determined by a court of law) and thus is exempt from the provisions of the 1st Amendment and thus it can censor your videos.

  18.  @ShamanKish  not really it is based on legal precedent set by US Supreme Courts ruling in Marsh vs Alabama from 1946. Prager Univerdity failed to demonstrate that YouTube was acting in violation of this ruling. As the court pointed out in its ruling "a private entity hosting speech on the Intefnet is not a state actor" and that "YouTube does not perform a public function by inviting public discourse ou its property". The judges went in to say that it is not a "public forum", in the same way that other companies that host "speech kn a private platform" such as a comedy club, nor does YouTube's embrace of diverse expression transmogrify them into state actors (unlike what TIK thinks). The ruling in Marsh vs Alabama was that state trespass laws could not prevent the distribution of religious pamphlets on a town sidewalk even though the sidewalk was in a privately owned company town. The company was ruled to be acting as a state agent in preventing the distribution of the pamphlets.

The first portion of the BEF left Portsmouth on 4th September 1939 and by 27th Deptember 1939 152,000 men were in France along with21,400 vehicles, 36,000 tons of ammunition, 25,000 tons if petrol, and 60,000 tons of frozen meat. Between January and April 1940 8 TA Divisions were also landed after completing large formation training in the UK.

  22. We'll have to wait a bit for all the dust to settle - any economic decisions take a decade or more to have a clear outcome. An example of this is the devaluation of Sterling in 1967 has one of its routes in the economic decisions passed by the Conservative governments in the 1950, one of which encouraged overmanning in both the nationalised and privately owned industries in order to keep unemployment unnaturally low.

If you tell children about the Holocaust without the censorship of making the information age specific then you are abusing those children and can cause PTSD. This is why teachers are trained to differentiate for age groups. There will always be people drawn to evil actions.

  25.  @dfmrcv862  yes they need to know this and about other atrocities as well, but they need to understand it and not be traumatised by it. How do you get s child to understand the industrial murder of every inhabitant of a city the size of London (currently around 8.9 million inhabitants)? Especially if they have no concept of death. We don't teach quantum physics I school, but we do teach that atoms behave like hard balls and that electrons orbit their nuclei in set orbits when neither description is true but do allow concepts like pressure and chemical reactions to be explained. Simplifications are a form of censorship, but only to allow concepts to be built up to their full complexity.

  27. According to US case law YouTube is a private company and thus can censor what is put on it (see YouTube vs PragerU. As YouTube operates under American laws, the American court decision stands.

  29.  @chaptermasterpedrokantor1623  a third of the total British deployment delivered to France in 3 weeks, and that was just the Army's contingent. And it used radios. Maybe nit as many as the Germans but certainly more than the French did. The only radio in Gamelin's was fine if you wanted to listen to the BBC or Radio Luxembourg. He had to issue orders over the civilian telephone system. The British Army in Europe may have been small, and it was certainly smaller than that which had sailed to France in 1914, but it was highly trained and reasonably armed. It was let down by the French command and control system and the crap plans drawn up by Gamelin.

I also don't believe that the conspirators had full control of the units they claimed. Just look at what happen on the Storozhevoy when its Commissar, Sablin, lead a mutiny and tried to sail the frigate to Sweden. Not all of the crew were on his side. One escaped and raised the alarm in the port before they sailed and several others freed the Captain whilst at sea. The Beer Hall Putsch failed after Ludendorf released von Kahr. Not that I'm saying such would have happened, but they could of happened.

As for economics, yes you don't know as much as you think, after all you think a plc and a state owned company are the same thing. In a plc the shares are traded publicly on a stock exchange and in a state owned business no shares are traded. Which means they are not the same. Yes a government can retain a share in a plc, like they did with the Royal Mail until quite recently. It's amazing that You Tube is so bothered by your comments they have taken no real action, after all they are a private business, a Limited Liability Corporation, and can legitimately silence you without infringing your freedom of speech. But they don't seem to have done this, although they did make it harder for people to see your video about the Greek famine in WW2 by not recommending it this is not censorship to all but thinnest of skinned conspiracy theorists. You Tube, is there to make money for its owners, Google, and films about famines or other disasters including wars are not money makers for them.

  35. Patton was an idiot for giving such an order to kill those who surrender after fighting. The judgement in Compton's trial is correct given what you have said. He had a valid defence and the court accepted it, whilst West had murdered POWs. In general, crimes are only judged against the laws in place at the time of the offence.

  43. Sorry, but I've doubts about the veracity of this tale of the actions involving the British 11th Tank [sic] Divison. The British 11th Armoured Division was in Schlesvig-Holstein as the forces of occupation for that part of Germany, where it was disbanded by January 1946 (some sources say November 1945). There is no evidence that they ever operated in Austria. The author is probably confusing the American 11th Armoured Division that was disbanded at Gmunden, Austria, in August 1945. However I can't find any evidence that they were involved at Lienz.

It doesn't matter that they were not used for the envisioned figures. They were insurance against the fixed hospitals being overwhelmed. I pay a significant sum for insurance and only rarely do I need to make use of it, and when I do I'm glad that I have insurance.

  48. @Tian Wong 500 years earlier we had just concluded the Hundred Years War against France, which had 2 main aims to restore the Angevin Empire and to allow the grandson of Philip IV (and his descendants) to hold the crown of France. In this we had the support, for a while, of the biggest power block in Europe at the time the Holy Roman Empire, whilst France was officially only a small territory surrounding Paris. The real power of the French Kings was the vassalage of the local Lords, some of whom were also vassal of the English Kings at the same time.

Whilst Article 2 does say that POWs should be treated humanely, Article 45 says they are subject to the same military law and regulations as the capturing power's military and Article 46 says that can face the same justice processes as the soldiers of the capturing power for breaches of these laws and regulations. The "rioters"should have faced a court martial and if found guilty the same punishment as a British soldier found guilty of the same offence. Those killed whilst attempting to regain control are a different matter.
