Historically population exchanges and land exchanges has prevented wars and conflicts from flairing up, such was the case between the greeks, arminians in Turkey, after ww2 with the germans in eastern Europe (though this did have violent motivations, 700.000 germans died) in fact the times this did not happen it led to war and conflicts, crimea in 2013, Germany after ww1, balkans after collapse of yugoslavia, poland after ww2 and many other times throughout history. The UN used to support these types of solutions but has now labeled them as Ethnic cleansing which they are but they did supported peace in many regions and reminds people that demografics alter nations and sould matters to nation states if they wish to survive.

Well duh many countries do this, in fact I would say the UN and EU not being aware and clever about these options is what allowed putin to take cremea, the people themselves also voted for it but if we had the same rules as before 1970s and had taken the first steps and talks for population exchanges, Cremea might have remained in ukrainian hands and in exchange the Russians would have gotten their citizens back, plus perhaps beter relations for trade and so on. People need to wake up from their current childish and delusional state and realise that demografics matter, esspecialy in geo politics and in war, if you don't play you lose by default.

@DanielKivariTeacher ironic because I consider Canada a failed state because it's so multicultral and against any form of ethnic, religeus, linqistic or cultural identity. Civic nationalism in my view has largely been a failed ideology because it does not take into account the cultural and ethnic diffrences between people's, ethno nationalism is not just that a nation is defined by it's ethnic identity but that assimulation into it's culture is through intercultural marriage and not through civic nationalism or multiculturalism, here in the Netherlands we abandoned our multicultral policies since 2013 and our immigrant populations are much more intergrated and assimulated than in say France, Germany, the UK or Canada. In my view ethnic nationalist states are more stable and more the norm in most of the world than civic nationalism, does civic nationalism have certain advantages esspecialy in say economics? Yes but at a great price and long term I think it's harmfull to the society. Most people point to the USA as a bastion of ethnic diversity but it was a pan-european ethnic state and had taken over huge amount of land through war on a continent that was "wiped out" by European diseases, it's hardly the multicultural paradise, nations like Brazil and most of south america is multicultral and very corrupt and violent as a result.

@DanielKivariTeacher I think Canada sould abandon it's multicultral policies and embrace a more ethnocentric identity, even if it's just linqistic, cultural or religieus it would be far more civil, advanced and less backwards and corrupt like it is today. Having an ethnocentric society does not mean all your problems are solved but currently there is only decline in such societies and backwards policies that promote barbarism, terrorism and weakness for all, including the immigrant populations that are now seen as 5th pillars even if they wish to assimulate to the host nation. In the case of Europe and the old world in general it's esspecialy dangerous for our future, it's exactly what led to ww2, ethnic conflicts, unresolved, leading to tensions and then dictatorship.

@DanielKivariTeacher i think that's rather ironic since the USA through economic and military might keeps other nations from competiting in the same way the USA had done for more than 200 years now, I don't see the current USA or the civic nationalist states as the next evolution, I see them as very regresive, much more tribal, backwards and irrational than some of the more early ethno states, though i do agree the old tribalism of the 19th and 20th century is no longer the best system to have, nations are being forced to adapt or remain stagnant, what we see most likely to replace it is continentalism, we see this in organisations like the EU but also the african union and the south american economic union, what they however still lack and what makes them not as effective is their over reliance on the USA and an embrace of the more backwards parts of civic nationalism and globalism. the USA of many years ago was much more stable and more civil than today, while nations like China under their more authoritarian model and a ethno identity are way more ahead compared to the west today.

Well yes but also no, the EU does not have a standing army so any threats they could make are economical or a very stern letter, they have however been investing in their own new military, only a question of time before they demand the rights to use it, once that happens they could have more influence in the region because they would then be able to say "we must defend our values and security so we must overthrow this evil dictatorship" and that's that, esspecialy if NATO collapses or becomes less US dominated.

@LoneWolf-wp9dn well that depends on how you look at it, if you mean directly in their hands which they could use whenever they want then no they got non, if you mean building a military industrial complex, a military technology development network and command structure to funnel in military forces once they become intergrated then yes they are making a lot of movements and funding is going up, up and up. one of the projects the European nations have worked on together which enhanced their militaries collectively would be something like the Eurofighter, they still have a long way to go but they are building that army.

If it's recognized by other nations it exists, the UN can only do so much, most nations don't recognize israel's land grabs, except the US who support them, thus it becomes the new reality and new normal. You sould read "rules for radicals" if you actualy want to see Kosovo become a state of Serbia again though it's likely too late already.

@miroslavstojanovic5620 US and UK sould leave the UN, the UN exists only because of the USA after ww2, the goal was to ensure solutions to global issues could be solved diplomatically but in truth it's been used as a mouthpiece for waging war for the USA and UK and ignored when a resolution was taken against their intrest, their veto powers are used all the time, the UN is toothless and has sold out to Iraq, Iran, Saudi arabia, China and every other dictorship in the world, in Hati allone they keep finding pedo rings led by some UN rep, same in most of the rest of Africa, the UN is a joke and has lost most if not all of it's legitmacy.

@miroslavstojanovic5620 no you don´t get it, the UN security council has veto powers so anything they wish to pass has to be accepted by those members or be veto´ed therefor no resolution can be taken without their consent rendering them toothless, the USA funds and is a founding member of the UN so if the USA pulls out which they are doing more and more and ignoring the UN more and more, means that the UN has not legitmacy for very long and what little they have is again toothless. Kosovo exists because NATO wants it to exist, and NATO is the USA, idk how this is so difficult for you to understand.

@HeadsFullOfEyeballs true but the comment was clearly mean't as a satirical comment about how the leftwing in the USA likes to claim white people have ''white privilege'' and are ''white supremacist'' when in reality this concept does not exist anywhere and is just racism towards white people. I found the comment to be quite funny and clever, though indeed misplaced since it''s not in US context.
