  1.  @teawaruaedwards274  Maori tribes were fighting a brutal war with each other prior to Europeans arriving, there was no united country to call by any name. Even after arriving Maori tribes traded land for weapons to go and slaughter other tribes, this is not picking on Maori its just factual history.

  3. Its worth noting iwi also get to vote in local council elections so its all a bit odd. Its a good old fashion power grab, you control the water you control the land is the thinking. Any farmers on what iwi consider disputed land right or wrong, you can see where water rights wont go. This is not about better water management.

Secondly you voted in the government bodies that look after NZ water resources through local body and central government elections etc, I am assuming you have the right to vote. 2/3 dudes as you put are technically part Maori like it or not btw, Winston even looks very Maori. Of course radical groups don't like him as he will not tolerate racist divisions, but he also has a big mouth so there is that. I favor stabilizing NZ $$ books first and then looking at a sensible tangible 3 waters (non racist agenda) replacement.

  7. He fails to talk about the impact to Farmers which is NZ largest export sector $$, he also failed to talk about how 3 waters was another power grab by racist Maori radical groups. Nothing wrong with making improvement, but leave racist power grabbing groups out of it, and don't cripple NZ's biggest source of income unless you want to live in a poor country.

  11.  @Kult365  Its written clearly in both versions, go read it yourself mate. Maori did not have written language, UK missionaries wrote the Te Reo version FROM the English version. 40 Chiefs signed the English version and the rest the Te Reo version, these are black and white facts.

  13.  @tommcg7564  That's about to be challenged. Most Kiwis have been up till recent years rather moot on the subject, not really caring who is appointed to the Waitangi Tribunal or the outcomes. Most Kiwis including many Maori have seen the line crossed with introducing racist laws and government departments based on race, stay tuned !

  14.  @Chas-te7uz  The Te Reo version was written by "European missionaries" translating directly from the English version the best they could with the limited Maori language. The English version also singed by over 40 chiefs by the way, is nearly double the size (1000 ish words) of the tiny 500 word Te Reo version that was signed by a lot more chiefs. Reportedly European Missionaries also spent a lot of time with Chiefs explaining what they were signing and that huge fact is completely ignored by certain modern day Maori activist groups.

  16.  @elraxomcgoutfoot9625  Maori knew exactly what they were signing mate as per their actions for many decades after the signing. This interpretation BS only popped up in the 1960 and 70's, ironically around the same time as the US civil rights movement.

  18. ​ @tommcg7564  "experts" ah , I have read both version myself and know exactly what they say, I now encourage all Kiwis to do the same rather than be told. Secondly Maori elected their first representative to the newly formed NZ parliament in the 1860's. This is the same generation Maori still alive from the signing. There was no protest about "co governance" as he was obviously outnumbered, Maori knew what they signed. All this woke interpretation BS only started the mid 1970's.

It was "ultimately" the formation of what we now call New Zealand that bought peace to Maori and of course Europeans in NZ.... but you know facts suck ah!

  22.  @tommcg7564  Lol you do understand the people of NZ including Maori own "Crown Land" and we elect a government to administer that land. Maori also Ceded sovereignty to the British Crown in 1840, its clearly written in both versions regardless of soon to be re-tested BS woke interpretations.

  26.  @Kult365  UK Missionaries who wrote the Te Reo version were sympathetic to Maori & spent considerable time explaining to chiefs what they were signing. Secondly after the singing Maori started to observe British rule of law , actions speak louder words mate.

  36. All Kiwis have equal rights and the right to vote, and that includes Kiwis with Māori ethnicity. I would not expect a elected government by the people to consult with him any more than the UK King around policy, they are now largely symbolic titles .

  37.  @jame2433  If TVNZ stories around this topic were well balanced from all points of view I would agree, but they have been presenting very biased stories then turning off the comment section to control the narrative, that's far worse than any toxic comment section.

  38.  @jame2433  FYI I voted Labour in the 2020 election as I felt they did a decent job, I soon regretted that however. I mean Jacinda was in the public eye, comments about her teeth for example are stupid but can be easily ignored. I really don't believe that's why TVNZ turned off comments. You really SHOULD care about NZ going down the race based policy path, all Kiwis should be equal regardless of skin color or ethnicity, its the only way a modern democracy can thrive.

If all the racist woke apartheid like "co-governance" BS had not been bought into it, a better version of 3 waters may have gotten over the line. NZ is currently running a massive 7.5% of GDP balance of payment deficit, around the largest ever thanks to a weak post Covid tourism sector, how do you purpose to fix that AND penalise farmers NZ's largest export sector at the same time, where is the $$ coming from?. Look I fully see some Kiwis are falling behind, I grew up in a poor area of CHCH and went to Woolston primary (or what ever the new Te Reo name is no one can remember), education and generally hard work with some mistakes got me to upper ish middle comfortable. As I have had several "part Maori" bosses over the years , I am not really feeling the "Maori disadvantaged" angle some radial groups are claiming to grab more power for themselves. I feel that's a very bad message to send to young Kiwis with any amount of Maori ethnicity, it gives them an excuse to fail where there is none.
