GameMaker Studio is also great! It's very comfortable to START making games but after a while you would understand that it's pretty limited... You could do anything with it but most things are just not there... (using 2+ sprites on one object, writing and testing shaders at the same time, using particle system, using anything GUI related...). So I switched to Godot! Yes - I am converted now! Join us! ;-)

True!

The "Mini-Unity" ;-)
2
In Godot 4.0 it was reworked and it can utilize types fully ;-) Use "var a := 5" instead of just "var a = 5"
2
@Im_Ninooo Yeah, Godot 4.0 is still rough - try it's final release (early 2023, probably). They like Blender (both are Open Source projects) so they will improve importing from Blender ;-)
2
@Im_Ninooo True! Importing 3D meshes could be painful in Godot - it's mostly used for 2D games for now ;-) But with every version, importer became better and better! And developers created a new importer for Godot 4.0. Can''t say is it working good because I'm most interested in 2D side of things xD Also... why don't you animate in Blender itself? I heard it has a pretty good animation system!
2
@Im_Ninooo Can agree. Watch some tutorials and then it will "click". When it does - it will became very comfortable ;-)

@Dxpress_ Very informative! "The other difference is that you can attach multiple components to a GameObject in Unity, but a Godot Node is one and only one script, which I guess makes sense, otherwise that'd be getting into multiple inheritance." - true! But you can attach a script to every Node (so you could attach one to KinematicBody2D and one to it's Sprite, because both inherit from Node and any Node could have a script attached to it). So both engine.s logic is quite flexible.
2
I just have to read why ;-) Yep - very polite!
2
Oh! Today, programming is much more "comfy" and "hip". And that's a good thing! ;-)
2
Oof! I tried it a few years ago and it was "a more confusing C++"
2
Old languages have weird syntax. COBOL and BASIC is not better than this ;-)
2
Well... * Learn 1-2 languages properly * Read about some interesting language * Find a tutorial on it * Poke around and write some small programs * DONE - you know another language on a very basic level ;-)
2
Well... Fortran is a fully featured language so you could do whatever in it. You would just have to write a lot of libraries yourself, because it's not very popular (in general). He is most likely lying tho ;-)
2
It is! Same with COBOL (high salary jobs in writing banking software)
2
You mean - modern banking software? ;-)
2
@abdjahdoiahdoai Plain "C" would be a smarter idea ;-) * Julia needs a VM - RAM and CPU cycles wasted on a weak hardware. * C++ has OOP - potential RAM and CPU cycles wasted on a weak hardware.
2
@Migoyan Agree! And military still use ADA ;-)
2
;-)

Likes - 3.5k Dsilikes - 7
2
What language did you chose and for what kind of projects? :-)
2
Julia is a "faster Python" while Rust is a "safer and modernized C++". Ready! ;-)
2
Depends on what career you are persuading ;-)
2
Programmers did. What part do you interested the most? Timestamp and questions please ;-)
2
That would be... inefficient ;-) GPU cores are very limited in use and they HAVE to be "feeded" by CPU first to even start to calculate something.
2
Limited tries are already a thing ;-)
2
GPU can't do everything that CPU does. Now developers could just compile their program 3 times and see what works the best for their task.
2
Not for now ;-) Not sure that it has 10 000 different useful libraries.
2
Getting a job with a COBOL is not a joke actually. Google that. Salary is good :-)
2
No, thanks! Survival of the fittest ;-)
2
@szymoniak75 Yeah, OpenAI is not open. Not really logical xD
2
Depends on how much are you willing to adapt ;-)
2
It's ok - they have 999 more to go xD
2
That's partially true. Having most devices connected to the Internet is pretty dangerous but that disaster could be avoided on so many levels: * Developers of that antivirus SHOULD have a better testing environment. They would catch that bug before millions of PC got that update! * Developers of that antivirus could roll out (upload) that update to some of the clients and not to all of them at the same time. * Companies should not use Windows but Linux. It's more secure by default (but experienced administrator is still a must have!).
2
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I think not ;-)
2
Now it is! xD
2
Some do!
2
"Crowdstrike confirmed! ETA 10 seconds" xD
2
@henriquealmeida348 Fair point! xD
1
And what exactly that would change? Technology is out
1
@mohammedayoub5691 ctOS is close xD
1
@iiiiiiiiiiiiililiiiiio Don't say anything bad about Jews and it MAY not explode ;-)
1
@nathan4678 I don't know - never used them
1
@johnmukendi7650 Youtube only knows videos that you like and your email account - that's much less than Facebook, for example
1
Make sure to find a good lawer first ;-)
1
Yep!

@senchoporo Glad to hear that!

Maybe you live in the US? ;-)
