  1. Another factor is noise: Drum magazines tend to rattle when as the shooter moves. The British found this out with tye Thompson, while patrolling during the Phoney War. Not only did they stop buying them but, after the Battle of Britain, they shipped the drum magazines back to Auto-Ordnance to exchange for more box magazines.
